10 Best Things to do in Kyoto

08:50
There are a million things to do in Kyoto, but these were my personal favorites from my time in the most historical city in Japan. Here are my 10 best things to do in Kyoto: ** The most important advice I can give is to wake up as early as possible, I mean super early. 1. Rent a bike - this is the best way to beat the tourist traffic in Kyoto. --- 2. Bamboo Forest - Small forest in the neighboring area of Arashiyama. --- 3. Fushimi Inari Shrine - It is literally a mountain of hidden shrines, symbolic figurines and a seemingly never-ending pathway to spiritual enlightenment. --- 4. Ninja Dojo Class - Kyoto is the cultural mecca of Japan, and while you’re here its good to get a taste of that - be it fact or folklore. --- 5. Kyoto Samurai Experience - As you’ve seen in last week’s video, begin to understand the way of the warrior through samurai training. --- 6. Imperial Palace - Within Kyoto’s Central Park, is the Imperial Palace. Its a massive campus with pristine gardens and lots of room to do royal things. --- 7. Kinkaku-ji - “the Golden Pavilion” another expansive grounds centered around this lavish zen buddhist temple. --- 8. Heian Shrine - a beautiful Shinto shrine. --- 9. Gion District - Perhaps the most popular thing to do in Kyoto. This is where you can spot the famous geishas heading to and from appointments. Watch the sunset next to the Yasaka Pagoda. --- Bonus: Find a great Shabu Shabu restaurant. --- 10. Karaoke - Finish the day at a Japanese Karaoke spot where you pay by the hour to sing and party! --- In my personal opinion, these are the best things to do in Kyoto. --- SUBSCRIBE ► http://bit.ly/TravelDeeper --- FOLLOW ME: + INSTAGRAM ►https://www.instagram.com/tourist2townie + FACEBOOK ► https://www.facebook.com/tourist2townie + TWITTER ► https://twitter.com/tourist2townie + SNAPCHAT ►@GarethChat + WEB ► http://www.tourist2townie.com --- MY TRAVEL VLOGGING GEAR: - MacBook Pro 15” → http://amzn.to/2g9K6j3 - LaCie Rugged External Hard Drive → http://amzn.to/2fkojHR - Sony a7ii → http://amzn.to/2gCeBDj - Sony a7ii 24-70 Lens → http://amzn.to/2fhWexs - DJI Phantom 4 Drone → http://amzn.to/2g9ALI4 - GoPro Hero 4 → http://amzn.to/2gvfJYI - KNEKT Underwater Dome → http://amzn.to/2gez11u - Rode Shotgun Mic → http://amzn.to/2gvg5yg - Manfrotto 60” Compact Action Tripod → http://amzn.to/2gducpn - Joby Tripod → http://amzn.to/2gdo6FA - Zoom H2n Handy Recorder → http://amzn.to/2gdmKuE - Backup Batteries for Sony A7ii → http://amzn.to/2fhYchl - Backup Batteries for Sony RX100iv → http://amzn.to/2gvbqfO --- P.S. Thailand - Baby Elephants & Patara Elephant Farm

02:51
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do your research before visiting an elephant sanctuary in Thailand, or any animal sanctuary for that matter. ---- Working with elephants in Thailand has always been something I was skeptical of. Luckily, I had the opportunity to go see for myself thanks to an invitation to the "Thai Fit Challenge," recently put on by the Thai tourism board, GoPro and Adidas. From the Anantara Resort in Chiang, our first challenge was to go beyond a simple selfie and riding an elephant, to learn about the process of actually caring for elephants in Thailand. At the Patara Elephant Farm just outside Chiang Mai, we were each introduced to our own elephant to work with as well as a caretaker who looked after them. I was paired with Boon Gin, a 21 year-old male rescued from a circus, who enjoyed a good back massage and long walks through the forest. Throughout our time together I learned about how to identify an unhealthy elephant as well the specific practices of Rescue, Recovery, Reproduction and Reintroduction to ensure the elephants well being. Once our work was done and Boon Gin retired to the mountains for the evening, we were allowed to join in on a little play time. A baby elephant, otherwise known as "lap elephants" on the internet, greeted us as with playful cuddling and wrestling. It was the perfect ending to a great day with these beautiful creatures. — PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do your research before visiting an elephant sanctuary in Thailand, or any animal sanctuary for that matter. Elephant Tourism in Thailand is a major problem and many of these places do not treat the animals well. PLEASE DO NOT go to places that use hooks to control the elephants or saddles to allow multiple people to ride elephants. ELEPHANT FARMS I WOULD RECOMMEND: PATARA ELEPHANT FARM - http://www.pataraelephantfarm.com/ ELEPHANT NATURE PARK - http://www.elephantnaturepark.org/ - Read more about it at http://www.tourist2townie.com/ Special thanks to the Anantara Resort in Chiang Mai for hosting our stay. http://chiang-mai.anantara.com/ And be sure to follow the other members of our awesome team: Kristen - https://www.youtube.com/hopscotchtheglobe Raya - https://www.youtube.com/rayawashere Andrew - https://www.youtube.com/shibbystylee ----

Tsukiji Fish Market | Tuna Auction & Tokyo's Freshest Sushi

12:02
Tsukiji Fish Market in Tokyo, Japan is the largest wholesale fish market in the world. The Tokyo Fish Market sells over 400 different types of seafood being with more than 60,000 employees. For more information, visit http://www.tourist2townie.com/ --- SUBSCRIBE ► http://bit.ly/TravelDeeper --- FOLLOW ME: + INSTAGRAM ►https://www.instagram.com/tourist2townie + FACEBOOK ► https://www.facebook.com/tourist2townie + TWITTER ► https://twitter.com/tourist2townie + SNAPCHAT ►@GarethChat --- About Tsukiji Fish Market --- I arrived at the Tsukiji Fish Market at 2:15am to reserve a spot for the Tuna Auction that takes place before the fish market opens. TUNA AUCTION We are escorted across the Tsukiji Fish Market to a small doorway, which opens up into a huge warehouse filled with Tuna (maguro) and its buyers. The guys pace around the tuna, with a very methodical process. They examine a small piece of the tale, cut off for evaluation, and check its quality and fat content with a flashlight. Next, the tuna buyers break off small chunks of tale meat and rub it in their fingers to test its consistency and make up. Some even walk to another fish for inspection so they don’t tip their interest to other buyer’s watching. This is a very important process to get right as some of these massive fish can sell for up to 1.8 million US dollar - yes, that is the record to-date for a single fish sold here. Once everyone has picked their favorites, its time for the auctions to begin… Animated auctioneers yell out prices as stoic buyers calmly make their bids with a series of hand gestures which represent numerical amounts. Multiple auctions happen simultaneously, both fresh and frozen Tuna are sold separately, so there’s a battle between auctioneers to gain control of their own warehouse echoes. And when the dust clears, tuna’s are tagged and taken into the inner market to join all the other fish for distribution. TSUKIJI INNER MARKET The Tsukiji (SKI-GEE) Fish Market is the largest wholesale fish market in the world and the inside market or "inner market" is where all the wholesale business is done with restaurants, grocery stores, and other wholesalers. It is closed to the public before 9-10am, so if you want to go look around I recommend doing it after this time as the vendors will be much friendlier. TSUKIJI OUTER MARKET The outer market is where all the consumer-friendly vendors are. It’s an endless supply of Japanese cuisine and its components. They sell everything from giant raw oysters and grilled fish to knives and fruit. There is also a completely separate fruit and vegetable market next door. TSUKIJI FISH MARKKET - SUSHI RESTAURANTS There are literally thousands of options in front of you, so determining where to eat can be an overwhelming task to tackle. First, and most obvious, are the long lines of the highly regarded, TripAdvisor recommended, foreign-friendly sushi places. The quality is top notch and the prices reflect that. Then there’s the locally-known hot spots who boast similar lines, and equally as tasty offerings. Its really interesting to see some places with hour-long lines and then other’s right next door, completely empty. I wonder if it’s hype or is there a real difference in quality? I guess you’d have to ask the guys at the tuna auction to really know for sure. Away from the long lines, down the back streets, are a million hidden gems with no lines, and serving up a very similar spread. I really think its hard to go wrong here, given the source is so close by. But, in my amateur opinion, if you really want the freshest, pure taste of sushi at the fish market - I highly recommend going directly to the vendors who are cutting up and selling the fish. I visited a street stall breaking down the highest quality tuna you can get (otoro), for a fraction of the price as in restaurants. Thank you guys so much for watching the Tokyo Fish Market video, and if you have any questions, please leave a comment below. --- TRAVEL GEAR & VLOGGING EQUIPMENT: - MacBook Pro 15” → http://amzn.to/2g9K6j3 - LaCie Rugged External Hard Drive → http://amzn.to/2fkojHR - Sony a7ii → http://amzn.to/2gCeBDj - Sony a7ii 24-70 Lens → http://amzn.to/2fhWexs - DJI Phantom 4 Drone → http://amzn.to/2g9ALI4 - GoPro Hero 4 → http://amzn.to/2gvfJYI - KNEKT Underwater Dome → http://amzn.to/2gez11u - Rode Shotgun Mic → http://amzn.to/2gvg5yg - Manfrotto 60” Compact Action Tripod → http://amzn.to/2gducpn - Joby Tripod → http://amzn.to/2gdo6FA - Zoom H2n Handy Recorder → http://amzn.to/2gdmKuE - Backup Batteries for Sony A7ii → http://amzn.to/2fhYchl - Backup Batteries for Sony RX100iv → http://amzn.to/2gvbqfO - Amazon Kindle → http://amzn.to/2gBiiZ6 --- P.S. Belo Horizonte Through Local Eyes - Travel Deeper Brazil (Ep. 9)

07:21
Belo Horizonte, Brazil - http://www.tourist2townie.com/ Travel Deeper with me on a long weekend to the capital of Minas Gerais, Belo Horizonte. I met up with a local friend and he showed me his favorite things to do in Belo Horizonte. I explored the central market, visited the cultural center, took a day trip to Inhotim, discovered the vibrant Belo Horizonte nightlife and checked out the Feria Hippie on Sunday. In between all this, I had a chance to see a different side of the city and interact with locals, which left me with an incredible travel experience. I can honestly say that the people of Belo Horizonte were some of the most friendly and welcoming that I've met during my year of living in Brazil. http://www.tourist2townie.com takes you to the beautiful Northeastern Brazilian city of Natal to experience the beaches and famous sand dunes on a dune buggy tour. On day one, I started in Ponta Negra (Praia de Ponta Negra) and then made my way through downtown Natal to the beaches near Fort dos Reis Magos (Forte or Fortalezea dos Reis Magos). On day two, I took a dune buggy tour with some other travelers to the famous sand dunes just outside the city of Natal. It was an incredible experience filled with offroading, ziplining, slip-n-sliding and lots of swimming. Natal is my favorite of all the Northeastern cities I have visited in Brazil. AKIHABARA - Japan's Anime Headquarters

07:35
Akihabara District in Tokyo, Japan is the world headquarters for Japanese anime, manga, comic books, video games, and electronics. -- Thankfully I had my Japanese friend Sabbaro there to help guide me around Akihabara or I would have been completely lost! --- Akihabara History Lesson: After WWII Akihabara was best known as a black market for electronic goods like radios and refrigerators which earned them the nickname “Electric Town” but fast forward to the 1980s when those same household electronics began to loose their futuristic appeal, so the shops shifted their focus towards home computers at a time when they were only used by specialists and hobbyists. This brought in a new customer - the computer nerd or OTAKU - and they ran with it! Years later Akihabara is THE hot spot in Tokyo for all things electronics, comic books, video games, and tech! --- SUBSCRIBE ► http://bit.ly/TravelDeeper --- FOLLOW ME: + INSTAGRAM ►https://www.instagram.com/tourist2townie + FACEBOOK ► https://www.facebook.com/tourist2townie + TWITTER ► https://twitter.com/tourist2townie + SNAPCHAT ►@GarethChat + WEB ► http://www.tourist2townie.com --- MY TRAVEL VLOGGING GEAR: - MacBook Pro 15” → http://amzn.to/2g9K6j3 - LaCie Rugged External Hard Drive → http://amzn.to/2fkojHR - Sony a7ii → http://amzn.to/2gCeBDj - Sony a7ii 24-70 Lens → http://amzn.to/2fhWexs - DJI Phantom 4 Drone → http://amzn.to/2g9ALI4 - GoPro Hero 4 → http://amzn.to/2gvfJYI - KNEKT Underwater Dome → http://amzn.to/2gez11u - Rode Shotgun Mic → http://amzn.to/2gvg5yg - Manfrotto 60” Compact Action Tripod → http://amzn.to/2gducpn - Joby Tripod → http://amzn.to/2gdo6FA - Zoom H2n Handy Recorder → http://amzn.to/2gdmKuE - Backup Batteries for Sony A7ii → http://amzn.to/2fhYchl - Backup Batteries for Sony RX100iv → http://amzn.to/2gvbqfO --- P.S. Recife Living & Porto de Galinhas - Travel Deeper Brazil (Ep. 14)

05:26
Recife, Brazil - http://www.tourist2townie.com/ It's a quiet morning on the beach in the Boa Viagem neighborhood of Recife. And while you're likely to run into a few fisherman and beachgoers, you won't find many people actually in the water here, As it's said, this is the most dangerous beach in the world do to the heavy shark population just offshore. And as much as I'd love to jump in and prove it, I decided to skip the swim and head downtown to see what life's like on land in the Capital city of Pernambuco. The historical center is lined with colorful buildings and cheerful people. Frevo music is in the air and signs of carnaval are everywhere. Recife and neighboring Olinda, host one of the best carnival celebrations in the country and no matter when you go, you'll witness the setup or remains of the year's big event. One of the main attractions during Carnaval here are the Bonecos Gigantes or Giant Puppets, and I just so happened to followed a guy into the Giant Puppet embassy to see the incredible collection of wood and paper mache figurines on display. The puppets are usually famous celebrities, athletes and public figures and are carried like floats during the local parades. They're a little bit creepy but entertaining to say the least. That afternoon I had the opportunity to do something really special. A local friend invited me to an after-school program that she's involved with in Recife's largest Favela of Brasilia Teimosa. The group is called Driblando Crack and it uses sports like soccer to help kids in the community avoid drugs and trafficking. We spent the afternoon hanging out, talking about life in Recife and of course, playing a little futebol. After an awesome time with the crew, I made my way over to catch a sunset boat tour through downtown Recife. Our large pontoon boat cruised through the wide canals and rivers as I took in all my surroundings. And while I wouldn't consider it to be the "venice of South America" as some have labeled it, it was great to see the city from many different perspectives on day one. The next morning I was up early to go on a little adventure. I borrowed my friend's car and set out on a day trip to Porto de Galinhas. The first thing you notice upon arrival in the small beach town, is that the people of Porto do Galinhas or Port of Chickens really love their name. Besides the tacky bird figures everywhere, the beach itself is long and beautiful, and a natural reef just offshore makes for great snorkeling and scuba diving. I spent the afternoon just relaxing in the sand before making the hour and a half ride back to the city. Luckily for me, I made it just in time to meet up with friends for some traditional Brazilian nightlife… Karokee!

5 Must-Try Japanese Food Experiences in Tokyo

14:39
Japanese Food is awesome, and the overall dining experience is just as fun. If you are looking for places to eat in Tokyo, here are five great Japanese food experiences that I love while living in Tokyo. 1. Japanese Grill (Robata) - You sit around a few men who cook all of the meat and vegetables right in front of you on a grill. You just point to what you want and they grab it with their giant wooden spatulas. 2. Ramen - My favorite Japanese food, and perhaps the most well recognized Japanese dish apart from sushi. There are hundreds of places to choose from in Tokyo, each with their own rendition of the classic. One spot where you can get a large variety of options is on "Ramen Street" in the lower level of Tokyo Station. 3. Yakitori - Meat and veggies on sticks, cooked over a similar grill as the Robata, Yakitori is a favorite among Tokyo residents because it's fast and goes great with beer. The most famous area for Yakitori in Tokyo is down "Memory Lane" or "Piss Alley" just outside the Shinjuku Train Station. 4. Chanko Nabe - The ultimate in gluttony for a normal civilian, but a necessary bulking strategy for up-and-coming sumo wresters in the Ryogoku neighborhood of Tokyo. There are many different versions of this massive stew, and they are all aggressive and delicious. 5. Conveyor Belt Sushi - As I mention in the video, there are a million different ways sushi is served in Tokyo. One of the most fun methods is by way of the conveyor belt sushi. *Bonus* - Convenient stores such as FamilyMart, Lawson's, and 7 Eleven are a major part of Japanese Food culture in Tokyo. People are busy and need a quick meal, so I wanted to take you around real quick and show you what's inside! --- SUBSCRIBE ► http://bit.ly/TravelDeeper --- FOLLOW ME: + INSTAGRAM ►https://www.instagram.com/tourist2townie + FACEBOOK ► https://www.facebook.com/tourist2townie + TWITTER ► https://twitter.com/tourist2townie + SNAPCHAT ►@GarethChat + WEB ► http://www.tourist2townie.com --- MY TRAVEL VLOGGING GEAR: - MacBook Pro 15” → http://amzn.to/2g9K6j3 - LaCie Rugged External Hard Drive → http://amzn.to/2fkojHR - Sony a7ii → http://amzn.to/2gCeBDj - Sony a7ii 24-70 Lens → http://amzn.to/2fhWexs - DJI Phantom 4 Drone → http://amzn.to/2g9ALI4 - GoPro Hero 4 → http://amzn.to/2gvfJYI - KNEKT Underwater Dome → http://amzn.to/2gez11u - Rode Shotgun Mic → http://amzn.to/2gvg5yg - Manfrotto 60” Compact Action Tripod → http://amzn.to/2gducpn - Joby Tripod → http://amzn.to/2gdo6FA - Zoom H2n Handy Recorder → http://amzn.to/2gdmKuE - Backup Batteries for Sony A7ii → http://amzn.to/2fhYchl - Backup Batteries for Sony RX100iv → http://amzn.to/2gvbqfO --- P.S. Florianopolis Best Beaches - Travel Deeper Brazil (Ep. 2)

06:56
Come with me on a journey to find the best beaches in Florianopolis! See http://www.tourist2townie.com for a map of all the beaches and a detailed Florianopolis Travel Guide. - FOLLOW ALL THE ADVENTURES - Web - http://www.tourist2townie.com Instagram - http://www.instagram.com/tourist2townie Twitter - http://www.twitter.com/tourist2townie Facebook - http://www.facebook.com/tourist2townie I spent 48 hours on the beautiful island of Floripa and made it my mission to experience as many of the 42 beaches as possible. Thanks to the guidance and advice of local friends, I can definitely say, without reservation, that I found paradise. Best Beaches of Florianopolis: Campeche Beach - One of the widest and longest stretching beaches in Florianopolis. Joaquina Beach - Famous for its big sand dunes and surfing breaks, Joaquina has long been the most popular beach in Floripa. Mole Beach - In recent years, Mole beach is taking over Joaquina's thrown as the ultimate hot spot for the young, cool crowd. Come here to surf or hangout and stay for the beautiful women of Floripa! Jureré / Jureré Internacional - This part of the island is dedicated to the rich and famous. Huge homes, beautiful beach and lots of money to go around. There is also a really cool fort close to Jureré Internacional that you should check out while you're in the area. Santinho Beach - Off the beaten path and a little bit of a task getting there, Santinho is a great spot to escape the crowds. Although there's a big resort on one end of the beach, if you time it right you'll have more than enough space to enjoy the beauty of rolling green hills crashing down into the ocean. Lagoinha do Leste - Absolute paradise. As you saw from the video, it takes a little while to get there, but that makes it all the better. Come during high season and you'll have to share the space with surfers... a small price to pay for perfection. - MUSIC - "Somewhere Over The Rainbow (Thomas Jack Remix)" - Soundcloud.cm/thomasjackmusic "Bad" - David Guetta ft. TOKYO NIGHTLIFE GUIDE

15:35
Tokyo Nightlife Guide, 2017 - Let me take you around Tokyo, Japan and show you some of the best things to do in Tokyo at night! As I mention in the Tokyo Nightlife Guide video, there are a million bars, nightclubs, and restaurants in Tokyo to choose from, so I wanted to break it down by popular nightlife neighborhoods in Tokyo to give you some ideas on things to do in Tokyo at night. ROPPONGI - Known to be the most foreign-friendly nightlife neighborhood. Home to the Hard Rock Cafe and many other western bars, restaurants, and nightclubs. Some good nightlife areas around Roppongi include Azabujuban and Akasaka. EBISU - A much more local environment than Roppongi, and home to the awesome Ebisu Yokocho, is Ebisu. My favorite nightlife area in Tokyo along with Nakameguro and Meguro nearby. SHIBUYA - Famous for the Shibuya Crossing, Shibuya is where many of the biggest nightclubs in Tokyo are, but you can also find a million small, quiet, hidden Shibuya bars as well. Mega clubs like Whomb, Harlem, Club Camelot, Sound Museum Vision, Atom, are very big right now. Be sure to check online before visiting for specials, DJs, and cover charges. SHINJUKU - Tokyo Red Light District is in Shinjuku, as is the popular Robot Restaurant, and Golden Gai. In all of Tokyo, you can probably find the most variety and options of Shinjuku bars than anywhere else. ENJOY RESPONSIBLY! And please let me know in the comments if you have any recommendations, as I will add them to the Ultimate Tokyo Nightlife Guide on my travel blog: http://tourist2townie.com/travel-deeper/tokyo-nightlife-guide-golden-gai-robot-restaurant-red-light-district-and-more/ --- SUBSCRIBE ► http://bit.ly/TravelDeeper --- FOLLOW ME: + INSTAGRAM ►https://www.instagram.com/tourist2townie + FACEBOOK ► https://www.facebook.com/tourist2townie + TWITTER ► https://twitter.com/tourist2townie + SNAPCHAT ►@GarethChat + WEB ► http://www.tourist2townie.com MY TRAVEL VLOGGING GEAR: - MacBook Pro 15” → http://amzn.to/2g9K6j3 - LaCie Rugged External Hard Drive → http://amzn.to/2fkojHR - Sony a7ii → http://amzn.to/2gCeBDj - Sony a7ii 24-70 Lens → http://amzn.to/2fhWexs - DJI Phantom 4 Drone → http://amzn.to/2g9ALI4 - GoPro Hero 4 → http://amzn.to/2gvfJYI - KNEKT Underwater Dome → http://amzn.to/2gez11u - Rode Shotgun Mic → http://amzn.to/2gvg5yg - Manfrotto 60” Compact Action Tripod → http://amzn.to/2gducpn - Joby Tripod → http://amzn.to/2gdo6FA - Zoom H2n Handy Recorder → http://amzn.to/2gdmKuE - Backup Batteries for Sony A7ii → http://amzn.to/2fhYchl - Backup Batteries for Sony RX100iv → http://amzn.to/2gvbqfO --- P.S. Travel Deeper - Japan

05:32
After spending almost four months living and traveling around Japan, I am now perhaps even more lost than I was at the beginning. The problem with travel is, the more you learn and discover, you realize the less you actually know. As soon as I think I have Japan figured out… a new door opens. The only solution I’ve ever known for this uncomfortable position is to just absorb as much as possible - like tofu in a big bowl of Chanko Nabe - the goal is to take in substance and gain perspective. New flavors change what I thought I knew about Japanese food. I see the process of sushi auctioned, packaged, prepared and presented. I see the amount care put into each bowl of soup. I see the precision taken by every day cooks - my palette evolves. New adventures change what I thought I knew about Japanese culture. From the snow-capped mountains of Nozawa to the tropical waters of Ishigaki - My outlook widens. And new relationships change what I thought I knew about Japanese people. As it has been with every other chapter in this life, what determines a viewpoint more than anything else - is the people I meet along the way. Truth is, the reason I came to Japan was to find a place that was completely out of my element. I was in search of something unique to anything I’ve ever known. And luckily for me… that’s exactly what I found and I am forever shaped by this experience. --- SUBSCRIBE ► http://bit.ly/TravelDeeper --- FOLLOW ME: + INSTAGRAM ►https://www.instagram.com/tourist2townie + FACEBOOK ► https://www.facebook.com/tourist2townie + TWITTER ► https://twitter.com/tourist2townie + SNAPCHAT ►@GarethChat + WEB ► http://www.tourist2townie.com MY TRAVEL VLOGGING GEAR: - MacBook Pro 15” → http://amzn.to/2g9K6j3 - LaCie Rugged External Hard Drive → http://amzn.to/2fkojHR - Sony a7ii → http://amzn.to/2gCeBDj - Sony a7ii 24-70 Lens → http://amzn.to/2fhWexs - DJI Phantom 4 Drone → http://amzn.to/2g9ALI4 - GoPro Hero 4 → http://amzn.to/2gvfJYI - KNEKT Underwater Dome → http://amzn.to/2gez11u - Rode Shotgun Mic → http://amzn.to/2gvg5yg - Manfrotto 60” Compact Action Tripod → http://amzn.to/2gducpn - Joby Tripod → http://amzn.to/2gdo6FA - Zoom H2n Handy Recorder → http://amzn.to/2gdmKuE - Backup Batteries for Sony A7ii → http://amzn.to/2fhYchl - Backup Batteries for Sony RX100iv → http://amzn.to/2gvbqfO --- P.S. Iceland Travel Guide (No BS) - Best Things to do in Iceland

A straight forward Iceland Travel Guide for those looking for information to plan a Iceland vacation and find the best things to do in Iceland. Including the best of the Ring Road and Golden Circle. ------ I teamed up with friend and fellow travel YouTuber, Steve Hänisch, of back-packer.org, to set out on a 12-day Iceland vacation adventure around the ring road! Here is his Iceland Travel Guide: https://www.back-packer.org/iceland-travel-tips/ ------ Go subscribe to Steve's awesome travel channel: https://www.youtube.com/BackPackerOrg ------ ☆ MORE INFO FROM THIS ICELAND TRAVEL VIDEO ☆ Iceland Travel Partners: - Iceland Car Rental - https://sadcars.com/ - homeaway.com (see below) ------ WHERE WE STAYED in Iceland (with HomeAway): 1. Arnarstapi Cottages - http://bit.ly/Arnarstapi-Cottages 2. Akureyi Nollur Farm - http://bit.ly/Nollur-Farm 3. East Iceland Cottage - http://bit.ly/Iceland-Cottage 4. Southern Iceland Cottage - http://bit.ly/South-Iceland-Cottage 5. Reykjavik Bachelor Pad - http://bit.ly/Reykjavik-Apartment ------ My favorite THINGS TO DO in Iceland:: ► Reykjavik & Golden Circle Iceland's capital city and home to 122,000 people. Reykjavik is the largest city in Iceland and most traveler's jumping off point for the Ring Road and Golden Circle. The Golden Circle is a popular tourist driving route in southern Iceland, which covers about 300 kilometers looping from Reykjavík into the southern uplands of Iceland and back. There are many Golden Circle tours, but I would recommend doing this with a rental car. Featured attractions include Geysir, Blue Lagoon and Gullfoss waterfall. One of my favorite things to do in Iceland in this region is the Reykjadalur Hot Springs - A beautiful and unique geothermal river near the town of Hveragerði. It takes about one hour to hike up to the hot springs, so be prepared. ► Central Highlands ► Northern Iceland Eyjafjörður Fjord - One of the best places in Iceland to see the Northern Lights. Northern Iceland has very little light pollution, so tracking the Northern Lights over the Fjords is a great idea. Ásbyrgi Canyon - This massive canyon was formed way back after the ice age as melting glacier floods ripped giant divots into the earth and left this beautiful valley and rock walls in its path. Northern Lights - In order to have the best chance of seeing the Northern Lights in Iceland, check out this website we used to track the cloud coverage and aurora activity. http://en.vedur.is/weather/forecasts/aurora/ Dettifoss Waterfall - Said to be Europe’s most powerful waterfall, and we’re getting a unique perspective - by moonlight. ► Western Iceland & Snæfellsnes Peninsula Godafoss Waterfall - An expansive horseshoe-shaped cascade that’s probably my favorite waterfall of the entire trip. ► Eastern Iceland Hverir or Namafjall geothermal field - Located in northeastern Iceland around the geothermal region of Lake Mývatn - a vast area of hot springs, sulfur crystals, and boiling mud pots. ► Southern Iceland Seljalandsfoss - A popular waterfall in South Iceland, and the only waterfall (that I know of) in Iceland that you can walk behind. Salvador Street Food & Capoeira Lessons - Travel Deeper Brazil (Ep. 1)

05:49
Salvador, Brazil is rich in history and delicious street food, so I set out to soak it all in! I took Capoeira lessons, danced to live Forró music and sampled local cuisine and cocktails with a local Brazilian friend. Salvador de Bahia is such a beautiful and interesting place, it's the heart of Afro-Brazilian culture in Brazil and new smells and sounds are only a narrow, cobblestone street corner away. Amazon Rainforest Adventures - Travel Deeper Brazil (Ep. 15)

09:48
Come with me down the Amazon River into the Brazilian Amazon Rainforest for a wild week of adventure. - http://www.tourist2townie.com/ A BIG THANK YOU to Amazon Gero Tours and the entire staff for hosting me, and keeping me alive. For the best Amazon Tour from Manaus, check them out - http://www.amazongerotours.com/ - AMAZON ADVENTURE - There are certain places on this planet that seem almost like fiction. Unreachable destinations that you expect to only see in story books and documentaries. The Amazon Rainforest in northern Brazil was one of those places for me. So when I had the opportunity to come to Brazil, I wasn't going to miss the chance to fulfill a lifelong dream. My experience began in the gateway city of Manaus, where the journey into the jungle proved to be a task unto itself... I took a taxi from the airport down to the city's main harbor. It was here that had my first glimpse of the incredible size and scope of the Amazon river on ground level. From here I crossed the river on a small shuttle boat, passing the point where the Rio Negro converges with the Amazon which forms a really cool color divide in the water. Once on the other side, I passed street vendors selling giant fish and wild fruits, before boarding an old VW wagon. Past the small towns and giant lilly pads, we drove further away from civilization before making one last transfer into a small motorboat. As we weaved through the flooded forest, the reality of this experience started to set in! The Ararinha Jungle Hotel would serve as the launch pad for all my Rainforest adventures. By day we explored the river and trekked through the Amazon rainforest. In the water we looked out for exotic birds, hidden lizards and even the rare pink dolphins and on land it was giant spiders, poison dart frogs and all types of monkeys. While the rare Anaconda and Jaguar were always in the back of my mind, it was the smaller animals that you really had to be aware of. We would go catch piranha in the shallow waters and then boat out to the middle of the river nearby to swim. It was a dangerous and beautiful place, and my senses were heightened the entire time. Throughout the process, Kenrick and the other guides taught me some important skills and techniques for surviving in the jungle. From making weapons and building shelter to finding the best things to eat if you're hungry. Another side of life in the Amazon, is the close-nit community of people who live along the river. I was expecting to see naked tribes and face-painted cannibals, but that wasn't the case at all. I had the opportunity to meet and interact with many local residents and despite the remote location, life here seems relatively normal, and it comes with an alluring simplicity and self-sufficiency. One morning we visited one of local farms who were in the middle of cultivating the popular Brazilian staple, Farinha or Farofa. He should us how to transform the poisones root into an edible side-dish and I even popped my top to help out. On another day we were invited to a house party with some of the off-duty guides and surrounding neighbors. It was great to see what life was like on a Friday night with people my age in the Amazon. And at night, when the sensible locals would turn in, we'd launch the boat again and head out to explore the darkness. With 75% of the animals here being nocturnal, the noises and commotion at night were like nothing I've ever heard. The easiest thing to spot were caimans, whose beady red eyes surfaced across the river. And apparently, if you're fast and quiet enough, you can reach down into the water and grab one. On my final day in the Amazon, we decided to take a small crew out to get the full effect of the jungle, and go camp out. We found a flat, dry space not far from the river and worked quickly to setup camp before dark. We chopped trees for a tarp frame, cautiously gathered firewood and began cooking dinner over the fire. As darkness and a little paranoia set in, we enjoyed dinner and drinks to the developing sounds around us. We listened to music, played cards, and of course, peed close by. We had some more drinks, made hats out of palm branch and shared stories well into the night. After an camp-made breakfast with fresh fruit, eggs and coffee, it was time for me to pack up and head back to Manaus. And although I spent a week engulfed in this incredible place… the people, the wildlife, the environment… everything still makes the Amazon seem like fiction... - FOLLOW ALL THE ADVENTURES - BLOG - http://www.tourist2townie.com INSTAGRAM - https://instagram.com/tourist2townie/ FACEBOOK - https://facebook.com/tourist2townie/ TWITTER - https://twitter.com/tourist2townie/ - TRAVEL DEEPER -

Samurai Training in Kyoto, Japan

08:15
Kyoto is the most historic city in Japan, so I wanted to learn more about one very influential aspect of Japanese culture - the Samurai! For this experience I connected with Kyoto Samurai Experience for my authentic Samurai training - http://kyoto-samurai.com/ I learned about the samurai warriors sword, samurai role in Japanese history, and the importance of zen meditation in samurai or bushido culture. After my mind was focused, I got to wield a real Japanese sword or Katana. No doubt this wasn’t a true window into the Samurai world, but it is a fun peak at the idiology and practices of such an influential aspect of Japanese culture. --- SUBSCRIBE ► http://bit.ly/TravelDeeper --- FOLLOW ME: + INSTAGRAM ►https://www.instagram.com/tourist2townie + FACEBOOK ► https://www.facebook.com/tourist2townie + TWITTER ► https://twitter.com/tourist2townie + SNAPCHAT ►@GarethChat + WEB ► http://www.tourist2townie.com MY TRAVEL VLOGGING GEAR: - MacBook Pro 15” → http://amzn.to/2g9K6j3 - LaCie Rugged External Hard Drive → http://amzn.to/2fkojHR - Sony a7ii → http://amzn.to/2gCeBDj - Sony a7ii 24-70 Lens → http://amzn.to/2fhWexs - DJI Phantom 4 Drone → http://amzn.to/2g9ALI4 - GoPro Hero 4 → http://amzn.to/2gvfJYI - KNEKT Underwater Dome → http://amzn.to/2gez11u - Rode Shotgun Mic → http://amzn.to/2gvg5yg - Manfrotto 60” Compact Action Tripod → http://amzn.to/2gducpn - Joby Tripod → http://amzn.to/2gdo6FA - Zoom H2n Handy Recorder → http://amzn.to/2gdmKuE - Backup Batteries for Sony A7ii → http://amzn.to/2fhYchl - Backup Batteries for Sony RX100iv → http://amzn.to/2gvbqfO --- P.S. Portugal: Algarve Road Trip (Lagos and Tavira)

07:59
The first stops of my quick Portugal Road Trip was to the beautiful towns of Lagos and Tavira in Portugal's Algarve Region. Lagos is famous for its incredible coastline and beautiful beaches. I stayed at the Canavial Hotel in Lagos, and it was the perfect location (not sponsored). Tavira is one of the most beautiful towns I have ever seen. Whitewashed buildings with a river running right through the middle. The people of Tavira are friendly and laid back, and it's the perfect place to stop while you're in the Algarve region or Portugal. Right next to Tavira is the small fishing town of Santa Luzia, which is the self-proclaimed capital of octopus! I had a dinner at Casa do Polvo (House of Octopus), and I must confess, it was the best octopus, perhaps even the best seafood, I have ever had. I highly recommend it. The Weirdest Cafes in Tokyo

09:36
While living in Tokyo, Japan I set out to explore the weirdest cafes in Tokyo including a cat cafe, owl cafe, hedgehog cafe and maid cafe. For more Tokyo Cafes information visit http://www.tourist2townie.com/ Cat Cafe - The most famous themed Tokyo Cafe has to be the Cat Cafe, and it did not disappoint. There were cats all over the two-floor Cat Cafe Mocha in Shibuya, and the unlimited vending machine refreshments added a nice touch to a fun Tokyo experience. Owl Cafe - As you can see from the video, I had mixed emotions about the Owl Cafe in Tokyo. This one was called Owl Cafe and Bar Owl Village in Harajuku, and the owls just sat there while you learn about them. Tokyo Owl Cafes are growing in popularity, I just don't like seeing birds tied up. Hedgehog Cafe - Harry Hedgehog Cafe was the quirkiest cafe we visited, and it was so cute to see all the hedgehogs around the cafe. There were babies, big guys, and so many to go around for everyone to hold and feed - this is probably my favorite themed Tokyo Cafe. Maid Cafe - Maidreamin in Shibuya is something you have to do while visiting Tokyo. The maid cafe is so much different than anything I have ever experienced before, with Japanese women singing, dancing, and serving in maid costumes - you will never forget this one! Luckily, there are many different maid cafes in Tokyo that you can visit. HOW TO BE A NINJA | Kyoto, Japan

09:19
For as long as I can remember, I always wanted to be a ninja... Ninjutsu is the strategy and tactics of unconventional warfare. Much like modern special ops, Ninjas or Shinobi were covert agents and mercenaries in feudal Japan. Used primarily for assassinations, espionage, and spying. And while I was here in historic Kyoto, I wanted to see what it takes to be a ninja, so I went to the Ninja Dojo. http://ninjadojoandstore.com/ --- SUBSCRIBE ► http://bit.ly/TravelDeeper --- FOLLOW ME: + INSTAGRAM ►https://www.instagram.com/tourist2townie + FACEBOOK ► https://www.facebook.com/tourist2townie + TWITTER ► https://twitter.com/tourist2townie + SNAPCHAT ►@GarethChat + WEB ► http://www.tourist2townie.com MY TRAVEL VLOGGING GEAR: - MacBook Pro 15” → http://amzn.to/2g9K6j3 - LaCie Rugged External Hard Drive → http://amzn.to/2fkojHR - Sony a7ii → http://amzn.to/2gCeBDj - Sony a7ii 24-70 Lens → http://amzn.to/2fhWexs - DJI Phantom 4 Drone → http://amzn.to/2g9ALI4 - GoPro Hero 4 → http://amzn.to/2gvfJYI - KNEKT Underwater Dome → http://amzn.to/2gez11u - Rode Shotgun Mic → http://amzn.to/2gvg5yg - Manfrotto 60” Compact Action Tripod → http://amzn.to/2gducpn - Joby Tripod → http://amzn.to/2gdo6FA - Zoom H2n Handy Recorder → http://amzn.to/2gdmKuE - Backup Batteries for Sony A7ii → http://amzn.to/2fhYchl - Backup Batteries for Sony RX100iv → http://amzn.to/2gvbqfO --- P.S. Bonito, Mother Nature's Playground - Travel Deeper Brazil (Ep. 11)

06:45
Bonito, Brazil - http//www.tourist2townie.com/ presents a weekend in the beautiful natural playground of Bonito, Brazil. When I asked Brazilian friends on places I should visit while traveling in southwestern Brazil, the overwhelming response was always Bonito. The small town of just over 17,000 people is tucked away in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul and is one of the most popular Brazilian tourist destinations in the region. Famous for its abundance of natural beauty, including wildlife, waterfalls and crystal-clear rivers, Bonito, is one of the best outdoor adventure spots I've ever visited. On day one I rented a bike from town and road through the countryside to two different eco parks, Porto da Ilha and Balneário do sol. Freshwater pools connecting to small waterfalls and numerous activities makes these spots the perfect relaxing day trip. That evening I ventured over to the Brazilian Rodeo at the Clubes de Laço (lasso club) just outside Bonito to experience a different aspect of Brazilian culture. The next morning I drove over to Recanto Ecologico Rio da Prata (The Silver River Ecological Reserve) to snorkel the beautiful transparent water teaming with aquatic life. From there we went to Buraco das Araras (Sinkhole of the Macaws) to witness hundreds of Macaws and other exotic birds fly around the giant redrock hole in the ground. That night I experienced the quiet and lovely downtown Bonito and drank some locally brewed cachaca at the popular Taboa. Needless to say, it was a great weekend in Bonito, Brazil and I can't wait to come back again soon. -- Hotel provided by Aguas de Bonito -- Other top things to do in Bonito that I missed: Abismo Anhumas, Lagoa Misteriosa, Boca da Onca Waterfall, Aquario Natural, Rio do Peixe, Rio Sucuri, Gruta do Lago Azul and Parque das Cachoeiras to name a few. Jericoacoara & Paradise in Preá - Travel Deeper Brazil (Ep. 12)

05:17
A perfect day of adventure in Jericoacoara and Preá Beach in Northeastern Brazil - http://www.tourist2townie.com/ After a long, seven-hour bus journey from Fortaleza to Jericoacoara, I arrived at the Rancho do Peixe Pousada (hotel) on Preá Beach where I fell in love with the private beach bungalow right on the beach. The next morning I took my first Kitesurfing lesson right on property and was completely hooked after a few short hours. Thanks to the favorable weather and wind conditions, Jericoacoara and Prea Beach is surrounded by some of the most popular coastline for Kitesurfing in Brazil. From kitesurfing lessons at Rancho do Peixe, I hitched a ride in a buggy, across the beach and through the sand dunes of Jericoacoara National Park to the town of Jericoacoara. I strolled around the quiet village for the afternoon before making my way up the giant sand dune at the edge of town to watch the sun set behind the Atlantic Ocean. It was a beautiful day and well worth the trip from Fortaleza to Jericoacoara. If you ever travel to Brazil and visit Northeastern Brazil, I highly recommend coming up and meeting Jeri and staying at Rancho do Peixe! Local Things To Do in Tokyo | Koreatown, Shinjuku, Kagurazaka

11:45
In search of new things to do in Tokyo, I spent the day with my Japanese buddy Yuta. He acted as my local tour guide as we explored a less-touristy side of Tokyo. Things to do in Tokyo (from this video): Tokyo's Koreatown - In the Shin Okubo neighborhood of Tokyo is Koreatown - A great place for markets, restaurants, street food, and perhaps most popular attraction the pretty faces of Korean Pop World. Record shops of West Shinjuku - The West Side of Shinjuku is a music lovers paradise, home to many recording studios and record shops, its a great place for locals to discover new music and enjoy the classics.
