Many of us would like to own just one inexpensive and effective item that we can use for self-care. In fact, this magical thing exists. Did you know, for example, that you can apply some petroleum jelly to the eyelids before using eye shadows? To style your hair, rub petroleum jelly between your fingers and apply it to your hair. The main thing here, as with other styling gels, is not to use too much. Believe it or not, you can replace almost all of your cosmetics products with petroleum jelly. How is this possible? Watch the video and take note. The cream will cover your skin evenly, and you’ll get a beautiful tan. - Before spraying perfume on the wrist and neck, apply some petroleum jelly to your skin. It absorbs and preserves the smell better. - Squeeze a drop of petroleum jelly onto a clean brush, and comb the eyebrows, giving the hairs the desired direction. It will dry, and the eyebrows will keep the correct shape for the whole day. - Apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly to the eyelashes before going to sleep. It can help them grow faster and thicker over time. - Apply petroleum jelly to dry hair ends, and keep it on for 15-20 minutes. The product seals the split ends, and after several uses the condition of the hair will be much better. - Apply petroleum jelly to the hairline while working with henna or dye. It will protect the skin from staining. - When painting the nails, apply a little petroleum jelly to the cuticle, without touching the nail. This way you prevent the nail polish from getting on the skin. - If you regularly rub Vaseline into the nail plate, it will get a glossy shine and become more solid over time. - You’ll cope with a stuck zipper much more quickly if you lubricate the problem area with petroleum jelly. You can also use it for rusty buttons and furniture fittings. - If you stained your clothes with lipstick or foundation, apply a little petroleum jelly to the stain. Then wash in the usual way. - To prevent the nail polish lid from sticking to the bottle after use, lubricate the thread inside the lid or on the bottle with petroleum jelly. The world's largest crude oil transporter has a secret buried deep in the Great Lakes—two aging oil pipelines that transport 23 million gallons of crude oil through the largest body of fresh water on earth. Enbridge, the company that operates the pipelines, insists that the two 20-inch pipelines stretching across the Straits of Mackinac could last indefinitely. But one look at the company’s environmental record tells another story: Enbridge had more than 800 spills in North America between 1999 and 2010, dumping nearly 6.8 million gallons of oil. The largest spill released one million gallons of oil into the Kalamazoo River, only a few hours drive away from the Mackinac Straits. Activists and advocates have independently verified that parts of the pipeline—built in 1953—are sitting unsupported on the bottom of the lake and in major need of repair. Motherboard travels to Michigan—oil spill central—to investigate the threats of crude oil being transported through one of the largest freshwater ecosystems in the world by a company with one of the most egregious environmental records. Top 10 Oil Producing Countries in the World 2017 This is a list of countries by oil production, as compiled from the U.S. Energy Information Administration database for calendar year 2016, tabulating all countries on a comparable best-estimate basis. Compared with shorter-term data, the full-year figures are less prone to distortion from periodic maintenance shutdowns and other seasonal cycles. The volumes in the table represent crude oil and lease condensate, the hydrocarbon liquids collected at or near the wellhead. The volumes in the table do not include biofuel. They also do not include the increase in liquid volumes during oil refining ("refinery gain"), or liquids separated from natural gas in gas processing plants (natural gas liquids). Under this definition, total world oil production in 2016 averaged 80,622,000 barrels per day. Approximately 68% came from the top ten countries, and an overlapping 44% came from the fourteen current OPEC members, highlighted with blue shading in the table below. For many years, the top three producers have been (alphabetically) Russia, Saudi Arabia, and the United States. Each of these countries experienced major production declines at different times in the past, but since 2014 all three have been producing near their peak rates of 9 to 11 million barrels per day. 1 Russia 10,551,497 2 Saudi Arabia (OPEC) 10,460,710 3 United States 8,875,817 4 Iraq (OPEC) 4,451,516 5 Iran (OPEC) 3,990,956 6 China 3,980,650 7 Canada 3,662,694 8 United Arab Emirates (OPEC) 3,106,077 9 Kuwait (OPEC) 2,923,825 10 Brazil 2,515,459 I hope you will like video, if you do hit that Like button and dont forget to Comment and Subscribe. Oil 101 - Introduction to the Oil and Gas Industry http://www.ektinteractive.com It is important to understand a few basic properties of crude oil, the key raw material processed in a refinery. Crude oils are not all the same, but rather vary in color, composition, and consistency. They are generally classified as” light” or “ heavy”, and “sweet” or “sour”. Unlike water, crude oil is not a chemical compound. Rather, it is a complex mixture of molecules, consisting of compounds formed from hydrogen and carbon atoms, called “hydrocarbons”. Just as water boils at 212 degrees Fahrenheit, each of the compounds in crude oil has its own boiling temperature. In general, the more carbon atoms in the hydrocarbon molecule, the higher the temperature at which it boils and vaporizes. It is this phenomenon that permits crude oil to be refined into so many different products.

#iitutor #Chemistry #ProductionOfMaterials https://www.iitutor.com Fossil fuels such as coal, petroleum and natural gas are important sources of energy for industrialised countries. These fuels, which are mixtures of hydrocarbons, are burned in air or oxygen to release energy. However fossil fuels, particularly petroleum (crude oil) and natural gas, have another important use. They are an invaluable source of raw materials for the petrochemical industry. About 95% of all synthetic carbon compounds, including plastics, resins and solvents, are derived from compounds produced from petroleum and natural gas. Petroleum (crude oil) is a complex mixture of hydrocarbons consisting mainly of alkanes and cycloalkanes with smaller quantities of unsaturated hydrocarbons including alkenes. Regardless of whether the petroleum is used for fuels or as raw material (feedstock) for the petrochemical industry, it must first be refined. Crude oil can be separated into various fractions by the process called fractional distillation. Separation into fractions is based on differences in boiling points of the hydrocarbon components. The crude oil is vaporised and the vapour mixture rises up the fractionating column. The short-chain hydrocarbons have lower boiling points and rise higher in the column before condensing. The long-chain hydrocarbons condense in the lower parts of the column. The liquid fractions are removed at various levels. The residue consists of long-chained bituminous solids that are periodically removed from the base. The nature and composition of the fractions varies somewhat between refineries. Join the movement www.studentenergy.org What are fossil fuels ? Fossil fuels definition : is a fuel formed by natural processes, such as anaerobic decomposition of buried dead organisms, containing energy originating in ancient photosynthesis. The age of the organisms and their resulting fossil fuels is typically millions of years, and sometimes exceeds 650 million years. Fossil fuels contain high percentages of carbon and include petroleum, coal, and natural gas. Other commonly used derivatives include kerosene, petrol fuel and propane. Fossil fuels range from volatile materials with low carbon to hydrogen ratios like methane, to liquids like petroleum, to nonvolatile materials composed of almost pure carbon, like anthracite coal. Methane can be found in hydrocarbon fields either alone, associated with oil, or in the form of methane clathrates. The study in petroleum engineering is one pursuied worldwide inorder to explore this industry.

Transportation of crude and petroleum products via pipeline and marine vessels is an integral part of the oil industry. The products are also stored in large tank farms. Over land, pipelines handle most of this load, transporting crude oil (dark products or heavier oils that result from refining) and clean products, such as gasoline, jet fuel, and diesel. The most economical way to move large quantities of petroleum products to global markets is by ship. Modern supertankers carry more than two million barrels of oil, a volume equal to five and one-half million automobile gas tanks. Reese, Mark, ARCO Pipe Line Company.

Crude oil is the most important raw material of the industrialized nations. It can generate heat, drive machinery and fuel vehicles and airplanes. Its components are used to manufacture almost all chemical products, such as plastics, detergents, paints, and even medicines. Life without oil? Impossible! Within our daily lives oil is used almost everywhere: Every year, 18 million tonnes of crude oil are processed into synthetic materials in Germany. Oil within our materials: 40 percent of all textiles contain oil; for functional clothing this may be as much as 100 percent. Oil within our leisure activities: 40 billion liters of oil a year are used to make CDs and DVDs.Like everything in life, oil has a disadvantage when it is left on seas - creating oil spills and endangering the ecosystem, that's why it is always important to have a well balanced perspective when it comes to oil production. On the other hand there are oil production nations in the Gulf and beyond that do not have our best interests, if we are wise, we better open our eyes and choose our true partners. These searches are often conducted by small exploration companies called wildcats. Step 1: Look for surface indications of oil Look for obvious signs of oil on the surface of your land. Tip Surface indications might include oil seeps or petroleum residue in soil samples. Step 2: Look for correlations Look for correlations on your land with the sites of other wells, matching fossils, rock properties, and electrical and radioactivity data. These correlations may predict where oil-bearing strata begin on your property. Step 3: Study gravitational variations Study variations in the earth's gravitational field on your land. If very light oil-bearing rocks are found near the surface, the gravitational force they exert will be less than that for heavy rocks. Step 4: Study the magnetic properties Study the magnetic properties of the underlying rocks on the property. Most rocks that contain oil are non-magnetic. Step 5: Study sound transmission Study the way sound travels through the earth on your land. The time it takes sound to travel through underlying rocks is characteristic of the types of rocks involved. Tip Don't forget to acquire the mineral rights on your land if you have not done so already. Doing so will ensure that if you find oil, it's legally yours. Step 6: Drill a small test well Drill a small test well if the results of your studies are promising. Now you can sell your oil-rich land and move to Beverly Hills. Did You Know? John D. Rockefeller founded the Standard Oil Company in 1870, the country's first oil company.

Top 10 Oil Producing Countries In The World: Where’s The Greatest Petroleum Dominion? Despite the advent of the green economy, oil remains a valuable commodity capable of creating fortunes (and using them to purchase Premier League clubs or World Cups). With China recently surpassing the US in oil imports, the situation seems unlikely to change any time soon. While the future situation is sure to change as extraction technology improves and old wells go dry, let’s take a look at the current top dogs in petroleum production. With just over 90 million barrels per day of total production, the top ten producers are responsible for over 60% of the barrels flowing each day. For this list, we’re focusing solely on crude oil extraction, leaving aside natural gas and biofuel production–two fuel sources of which the US is a worldwide leader. 1º Saudi Arabia – 11.75 million barrels per day 2º United States – 10.59 million barrels per day 3º Russia – 10.3 million barrels per day 4º China – 4.19 million barrels per day 5º Iran – 4.13 million barrels per day 6º Canada – 3.92 million barrels per day 7º United Arab Emirates – 3.23 million barrels per day 8º Mexico – 2.95 million barrels per day 9º Brazil – 2.8 million barrels per day 10º Kuwait – 2.75 million barrels per day Our Facebook page: http://on.fb.me/1jMoFBq
