The Dirty Secret at the Bottom of the Great Lakes: Oil & Water
The world's largest crude oil transporter has a secret buried deep in the Great Lakes—two aging oil pipelines that transport 23 million gallons of crude oil through the largest body of fresh water on earth. Enbridge, the company that operates the pipelines, insists that the two 20-inch pipelines stretching across the Straits of Mackinac could last indefinitely. But one look at the company’s environmental record tells another story: Enbridge had more than 800 spills in North America between 1999 and 2010, dumping nearly 6.8 million gallons of oil. The largest spill released one million gallons of oil into the Kalamazoo River, only a few hours drive away from the Mackinac Straits. Activists and advocates have independently verified that parts of the pipeline—built in 1953—are sitting unsupported on the bottom of the lake and in major need of repair. Motherboard travels to Michigan—oil spill central—to investigate the threats of crude oil being transported through one of the largest freshwater ecosystems in the world by a company with one of the most egregious environmental records. Offshore Oil Rig Jobs, Typical day.
Oil Rig Jobs http://www.rigzone.com/oil/jobs/categories/drilling-rig-personnel-3/ https://www.airswift.com/as/oil-rig-job-vacancies/ Ensure you meet the minimum qualifications for employment on almost any oil rig. They are the following: You are over 18 years of age. You are very physically fit. You should also be mentally fit. You will be required to pass a physical exam before being hired. You are a non-smoker, and you can abstain from alcohol during your long 14 to 21 day shifts. You are willing and able to take on the unusual schedule of an oil rig worker. You should be open to working nights, and you should be able to work many days on end without weekend breaks. An oil rig is a manned platform used for land or off-shore drilling. An oil rig worker can denote an employee on either platform, responsible for a large number of duties associated with safely drilling for oil. The schedule for most workers consists of working 14 to 21 consecutive days before being given time off. As well as earning a wage, most offshore oil rig workers are provided food and board and some travel expenses. Getting your first job on an oil rig may be the toughest part of the process, because oil rig managers value experience.

What is Crude Oil?
Oil 101 - Introduction to the Oil and Gas Industry http://www.ektinteractive.com It is important to understand a few basic properties of crude oil, the key raw material processed in a refinery. Crude oils are not all the same, but rather vary in color, composition, and consistency. They are generally classified as” light” or “ heavy”, and “sweet” or “sour”. Unlike water, crude oil is not a chemical compound. Rather, it is a complex mixture of molecules, consisting of compounds formed from hydrogen and carbon atoms, called “hydrocarbons”. Just as water boils at 212 degrees Fahrenheit, each of the compounds in crude oil has its own boiling temperature. In general, the more carbon atoms in the hydrocarbon molecule, the higher the temperature at which it boils and vaporizes. It is this phenomenon that permits crude oil to be refined into so many different products.

World Top 10 Largest Oil and Gas Companies
World Top 10 Largest Oil and Gas Companies 10. Kuwait Petrol Corporation -- 3.2 million barrels per day -In 1934 the Kuwait Oil Company was created by the companies we know today as BP and Chevron. Over the next 40 years, exploration and development expanded the production potential of the Kuwaiti oilfields. In 1975, the Kuwait government took over the Kuwait Oil Company and by 1980 had nationalized the oil industry under the new Kuwait Petroleum Organization (KPO). 9. Chevron -- 3.5 million barrels per day -The discovery of oil in California in 1879 led to the creation of the Pacific Coast Oil Company (PCOC). Over the following decades, the PCOC joined other companies and experienced reorganization and several name changes. In 1984, now known as Standard Oil of California, the company merged with Gulf Oil in what was the biggest merger of that time. The following reorganization saw the company renamed Chevron Corporation. 8. Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex) -- 3.6 million barrels per day -In the early 20th century, American and British oil companies were developing and refining petroleum in Mexico. The Mexican government saw the potential in such industry and moved quickly to support striking oil workers in 1938. Citing the Mexican Constitution, the government took over all foreign facilities and nationalized the oil industry. 7. Royal Dutch Shell -- 3.9 million barrels per day -One of the largest gas companies in the world, Royal Dutch Shell was created in 1907 by the merging of Royal Dutch Petroleum and the Shell Transport and Trading Company of Britain. Perhaps best known in North America for its gas stations, automotive oils and association with Formula One racing, Shell's oil and gas interests stretch across the globe. 6. BP -- 4.1 million barrels per day -British Petroleum's origins date back to 1909 with the start-up of the Anglo-Persian Oil Company. Over the years the company changed names and expanded its drilling operations from the Middle East to Alaska and the North Sea. At one time, the company was the second largest oil company in the world. After the 2010 Deepwater Horizon spill, however, the company sold off a number of assets to help pay for the $4.5 billion in penalties, fines and legal fees. 5. PetroChina -- 4.4 million barrels per day -This Chinese state-controlled company is likely to move up this list quickly in the coming years. PetroChina is the largest Chinese oil and gas company. Founded in 1999, this company's annual revenue is reportedly $325 billion, although this figure will likely be much higher once recent market data is released. In worldwide development, PetroChina is involved in Africa, in Australia, where it signed a $50 billion contract for Australia natural gas, 4. ExxonMobil -- 5.3 million barrels per day -This company has its origins in John D. Rockefeller's Standard Oil Company. When Rockefeller was forced to break up his company because of antitrust laws in 1911, two of the companies created were Jersey Standard and Socony. Over the years these two companies transformed into Exxon and Mobil, respectively. 3. National Iranian Oil Company -- 6.4 million barrels per day -The National Iranian Oil Company holds third place among the world's largest oil and gas producers. This company has its origins in the early 20th century when the British discovered and successfully began exploiting Iran's oil with the Anglo-Persian Oil Company. 2. Gazprom -- 9.7 million barrels per day -Officially known as Open Joint Stock Company Gazprom, Gazprom is the world's largest natural gas company. Created in 1989, a majority of the company is held by the Russian state while a small portion is privately owned. The company was able to grow significantly in the 1990s thanks to the fact that Gazprom's chairman was appointed Prime Minister of Russia. Don't be fooled by the 'mere' $150 billion annual revenue and $40 billion annual profits of this company. 1. Saudi Aramco -- 12 million+ barrels per day -Saudi Aramco is deservedly #1 on this list. This company generates over $1 billion a day in revenue, produces the most barrels per day of any company and is sitting on the largest proven reserves in the world. This company began with Standard Oil of California striking oil in Saudi Arabia in the 1930s. By 1944 the Arabian-American Oil Company (Aramco) was formed. American support for Israel in the 1970s led the Saudi Arabian government to push for a greater stake in the domestic oil industry. source-http://www.therichest.com/business/companies-business/the-10-largest-oil-and-gas-companies-in-the-world/ I, Sk Atar Ali hereby declare that all Images use to make this video is from Google Search www.google.com. CRUDE OIL 101 : All you need to know !
Join the movement www.studentenergy.org What are fossil fuels ? Fossil fuels definition : is a fuel formed by natural processes, such as anaerobic decomposition of buried dead organisms, containing energy originating in ancient photosynthesis. The age of the organisms and their resulting fossil fuels is typically millions of years, and sometimes exceeds 650 million years. Fossil fuels contain high percentages of carbon and include petroleum, coal, and natural gas. Other commonly used derivatives include kerosene, petrol fuel and propane. Fossil fuels range from volatile materials with low carbon to hydrogen ratios like methane, to liquids like petroleum, to nonvolatile materials composed of almost pure carbon, like anthracite coal. Methane can be found in hydrocarbon fields either alone, associated with oil, or in the form of methane clathrates. The study in petroleum engineering is one pursuied worldwide inorder to explore this industry.

How to Find Oil on Your Land
Watch more How to Make Money Fast videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/421398-How-to-Find-Oil-on-Your-Land Initial searches for oil on land usually require the skills of geologists and geophysicists. These searches are often conducted by small exploration companies called wildcats. Step 1: Look for surface indications of oil Look for obvious signs of oil on the surface of your land. Tip Surface indications might include oil seeps or petroleum residue in soil samples. Step 2: Look for correlations Look for correlations on your land with the sites of other wells, matching fossils, rock properties, and electrical and radioactivity data. These correlations may predict where oil-bearing strata begin on your property. Step 3: Study gravitational variations Study variations in the earth's gravitational field on your land. If very light oil-bearing rocks are found near the surface, the gravitational force they exert will be less than that for heavy rocks. Step 4: Study the magnetic properties Study the magnetic properties of the underlying rocks on the property. Most rocks that contain oil are non-magnetic. Step 5: Study sound transmission Study the way sound travels through the earth on your land. The time it takes sound to travel through underlying rocks is characteristic of the types of rocks involved. Tip Don't forget to acquire the mineral rights on your land if you have not done so already. Doing so will ensure that if you find oil, it's legally yours. Step 6: Drill a small test well Drill a small test well if the results of your studies are promising. Now you can sell your oil-rich land and move to Beverly Hills. Did You Know? John D. Rockefeller founded the Standard Oil Company in 1870, the country's first oil company.

Where Do We Get Oil From? - Geography for Kids | Educational Videos by Mocomi
http://mocomi.com/ presents: Where do we get oil from? The Earth’s surface, millions of years ago, was covered with more water than what it has today and living in this were billions of tiny plants and animals. When these plants and animals died, they fell to the ocean floor and piled up. Sand from eroding rocks and mud covered them up. These layers of sand and mud were heavy and this weight turned them into sedimentary rocks. Heat from the earth and the weight of the rocks caused the dead plants and animals to compress into oil. Once the oil is formed, it slowly moves up through pores in the rocks. However in some cases, rocks without any pores leaves oil trapped underground. Oil is found in different parts of the world. The places where oil is extracted are called oil fields. More than half of the world’s oil is produced in the Middle East. To get to the oil, a company must first drill down to it. A rig is set up to support the drill. Then a well is drilled into the ground until the oil is reached. If the oilfield is in the sea, then offshore rigs are used. Watch this interesting video on how oil is formed from fossils which are compressed under the ocean floor. How is Coal Formed? - Geography for Kids | Educational Videos by Mocomi
http://mocomi.com/ presents : How is Coal Formed? Millions of years ago, a large number of plants and ferns grew on Earth. These plants and ferns died in swamps, around riverbanks and got covered with soil and mud and slowly sank into the ground. As the years passed, the Earth’s heat and the weight of the ground changed these dead plants into coal. To extract coal, it needs to be dug out. Coal is usually found in layers, or seams underground. Inside Oil Tankers - Documentary Films
CLICK HERE - http://activeterium.com/1DCR - FOR MORE FREE DOCUMENTARIES Inside Oil Tankers - Documentary Films All over the world, tanker operations are constantly moving. Oil tankers are ships specially designed for the bulk transport of either unrefined crude oil or petrochemicals. Their size classes can range from coastal or inland tankers of a few thousand metric tons of deadweight (DWT) to a colossal amount of 550,000 DWT. These giant specialized ships transport approximately two billion metric tons of oil across the sea every year. Crude oil is one of the world's most consumed sources of energy. Oil tankers, therefore, play a significant role in the way the country operates. Because of the products they are built to carry, without proper maintenance, these mammoth ships of black gold can also pose a threat on the environment. To ensure that an oil tanker does not severely impact the environment, oil companies must employ an expert and highly experienced ship management service to oversee tanker operations. They must also routinely check their oil tankers for maintenance purposes. Fixing the smallest dent, scratch or crack can mean the difference between safe sailing across miles of seawater and a devastating oil spill. On board the ship, safety measures should be strictly imposed. Because of the hazardous - and often flammable - nature of the materials being transported, the possession of flammable objects should be avoided if not prohibited entirely to avoid accidents, which can threaten the lives of the people on the ship, as well as the surrounding marine life. Whether at sea or anchored at a dock, tanker operations and safety measures should still be strictly implemented to prevent the ship from negatively affecting the environment.
