Nurturing dreams of one day making the Pro Tour? This video will give you a basic understanding of what it takes to travel the road to becoming a Pro Magic player. Many of the examples and numbers that I’m using mostly pertain to American players, so you may want to double-check with your local tournament organizers to see how this model is different for you. How and when do I begin? The first thing you need to do if you’d like to become Competitive is to understand what you’re signing up for. Competitive Magic takes a lot of time and investment, not just on a personal level, but monetary as well. You’ll usually need to invest in a competitive level deck, or perhaps several decks, which could cost hundreds if not thousands of dollars. Even if you play limited events, you’ll probably need to spend money on booster packs to help practice your skills. Events will sometimes cost money as well, so you’ll need to budget for that too. You’ll need to spend a significant amount of your time getting to know, test and understand the meta of whatever format you decide to compete in, Limited, Modern, Standard, Vintage, or Legacy. You’ll also need to understand the rules of Magic on a deeper level. You may also need to travel to not just local events, but events across the country - or even the world, on a regular basis. However, the rewards for competitive play are considerable and worth the effort. The competitive community is amazing, and full of people who share your passion and your drive. There’s also the glory of winning an event: name recognition, a sweet trophy, and accumulating Pro Points to get to the next level. Seeing yourself excel in an activity you love is invigorating, and there isn’t quite anything else like it. As long as you understand this level of commitment and you’re up for it, then all you really need to do is grab a deck and show up to a competitive event!

Planeswalker Tier List for Magic The Gathering

18:38
For today's video, I'm hoping on a pretty popular trend that has been going around YouTube recently. That trend is tier lists. For this MTG themed tier list, I found a user who made a tier list for planeswalkers. This means that we will be ranking most of the planeswalkers, post-mending, that have actual cards in the game of Magic. Which planeswalker is the best? Which planeswalker is the worst? This is the official tier list for MTG planeswalkers, but you can feel free to argue your opinions and points in the comment section. Thank you so much for watching the video! If you enjoyed, a like and subscription would be very appreciated! How To Start Playing Magic: The Gathering - A Beginner's Guide To MTG

09:11
The Best Gaming Cases: http://youtu.be/2Aw3j3Mj5Ls A Guide To Playmats: http://youtu.be/0HOjmAB4WaA What Are The Best Binders: http://youtu.be/H5IauASYWjk The Best Card Sleeves: http://youtu.be/w-aAeIZSNWw How To Start Playing Magic: The Gathering - A Beginner's Guide The following is a 6 step guide to starting Magic: The Gathering from absolute scratch. This is not a video that teaches you how to play the game, but rather guides you in your purchases and decision making so that you can go from having never played Magic: The Gathering before, to being able to attend store events and regularly play games. Please note: As always, this video is only meant as guidance, not absolute rules. it is one path, one method of many, but it only a suggestion. It is designed with the goal of being able to play regularly at store events, but that may not be your own personal goal when it comes to Magic. Still, even if you are looking to achieve different things from this game, perhaps by seeing one path people can take, you might discover new ideas that help you meet your needs. The importance of friend or partner: If you'll allow me one more preamble, I'd like to stress the importance of having a friend or partner to play with. The most important thing you can do as a new player is...to play. Practice, practice, practice, and in order to do this, it helps to have a practice partner. Going into this game with a friend or lover is a huge advantage, as you'll always have someone to play with and learn with. I'm a major advocate of couples getting into Magic together, as it gives you both a fun and engaging activity that you can share with one another. If you don't know anyone who is interested in learning with you, or who already plays, don't despair. Magic is a highly social game. Hanging out at your local game store isn't just how you get in games, it is also how you meet people and make friends. So where do you begin from absolute scratch? Step 1: Buy Duels of the PlanesWalkers 2014 Step 2: Get 2 Quick Start Decks. Step 3: Join your store's league Step 4: Play a Draft Step 5: If a prerelease or launch is upcoming, attend. Step 6: Put your first standard deck together. [How To] Double Trouble - Magic: The Gathering 2013 - Duels of the Planeswalkers

08:17
Like my Facebook Page - http://www.facebook.com/lunaireclipse In this video of Magic: The Gathering 2013 - Duels of the Planeswalkers I face probably the hardest encounter I have faced and that is Double Trouble. I believe this to be more an informative video than a simple encounter as only a few decks can really beat this guy. --- Strategy/Tactics --- The fight plays out like this. Your opponent will place a creature card which has the ability to double both its power/toughness every turn making it a hassle to kill, the minute it reaches above 10/10 it will also gain trample meaning a probable game over. In order to counter this you need to try win the fight as soon as possible. I choose Jace's deck as at this point in time it is the best deck to use in order to try and make the opponent burn through his total 40 cards and win through him having 0 cards within his deck left. I also when possible placed cards which sent his creatures either to his grave or his hand in order to stall him, so he couldnt deal direct damage to my life. If you find this video informative/educational and enjoyable please dont forget to Like, favourite and share it with your friends. . - ABOUT LUNAIR - On this channel, you will see gaming videos from myself Lunaireclipse or Lunair for short. Lost Memory - Planeswalkers Forgotten

Support this Channel: https://www.patreon.com/seibenmtg Video by Seiben Today, Seiben talks some Vorthos, specifically inregards to underutilized native Planeswalkers in Magic: The Gathering and its Storyline. Native Planeswalkers are new characters on whatever plane we journey to, and recently, they've been coming up short from a lore stand point. They seem flat and barely even help with whatever crisis is going on at the time. In a sense, they're forgettable . My personal feeling is that Saheeli Rai, Dovin Baan, and Arlinn Kord are just more examples of this cycle. MTG LORE - An Analysis of Urza vs. Jace from Magic: The Gathering

14:48
Lore Analysis, Garruk vs. Liliana: https://youtu.be/o6X0Vpytp2w Support The Professor - Patreon -https://www.patreon.com/tolariancommunitycollege TCC Shirts! Playmats! - http://www.tolariancommunitycollege.com/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/TolarianCollege FaceBook: https://www.facebook.com/TolarianCommunityCollege Simple characters are boring. That’s why I love the complexity of many Magic: The Gathering characters. Many possible meanings can be found when we analyze the characters and their relationship to other elements within the text. Today, I am going to analyze the characters of Urza and Jace Beleren using a method known as compare and contrast, in order to better understand their deeper meaning and significance. Remember that when we compare and contrast, we do not do so for the purposes of just making a list of similarities and differences. That would be pointless. We examine their similarities and differences with the intent of gaining new insight into these elements, in this case Jace and Urza, an insight that we might not be able to see when looking at each character in isolation. Let’s start with a brief overview. Urza vs. Jace - What is the deeper meaning behind two of the most prominent planeswalkers of Magic: The Gathering? Urza was a master artificer and planeswalker originally from the plane of Dominaria, famous for the conflicts that he headed. Before becoming a planeswalker, he engaged in a lifelong war against his younger brother Mishra, a war so devastating that it was known by all of Dominaria as the Brothers’ War, and whose conclusion was so violent and devastating it shook the very core of the plane of Dominaria itself, changing its axis and thrusting the entire land into an Ice Age, an act so momentous that it even had an effect upon other nearby planes that interacted with Dominaria’s pull. This was, amazingly, all while Urza was still a simple mortal. After the end of the Brother’s War, from which Mishra perished and Urza ascended as a god-like planeswalker, Urza devoted the next thousand years to combating the Phyrexian Empire, who had been responsible for corrupting his brother Mishra and who planned to invade Dominaria. Jace Beleren is a blue mage who specializes in illusions and has an innate gift for telepathy. Jace has often been the pawn of other, more powerful forces: as a child, his mentor, the Sphynx Alhammaret deceived and exploited Jace throughout much of his service, and ultimately wiped most of Jace’s memory of himself. On Ravnica, the Infinite Consortium and Tezzeret forced Jace down a path that ultimately led him to being manipulated by none other than Nicol Bolas. Due to these manipulations Jace inadvertently freed the Eldrazi from their prison on Zendikar, threatening all of the multiverse. So what do these two characters have to do with each other? In the storyline, Urza and Jace never met, they existed hundreds if not thousands of years a part from one another, and their conflicts, at least so far, do not even overlap. The link I see between them is that both are arguably the most prominent planeswalker of their respective era, each serving as a figurehead for the game itself. Today, it is reasonable to say that Jace is the face of Magic, and yesteryear, it was Urza. Heck, the proprietary font that's been used from Magic 2015 onward is called Beleren, so named after Jace. So if these characters represent the larger game and its players, then by comparing and contrasting them, what might we learn about ourselves? Interestingly, when analyzed in relation to one another, it can be interpreted that Urza, despite his character’s age, actually represents the turmoil and conflict that is typical of our teenage years, while Jace, despite his character's young age, actual embodies the conflicts of adulthood: namely those of compromise and complacency. Now, this is my own interpretation of the characters, and I do want to stress it is just that: my own. It is not the deeper meaning behind these characters, but one possible meaning of many. I will do my best to elaborate and explain my interpretation and point to where in the text I draw my inferences and conclusions from. Let’s begin with active vs. reactive. Beginner's Guide: What is a Planeswalker Card?

06:46
New to Magic? Need to know how Planeswalkers work? Wondering what a loyalty ability is? Fret not, we run down the basics on how to use your flashy new Mythic Rare! You can cast a Planeswalker during either main phase of your turn (or any other time you could cast a sorcery spell). A Planeswalker is a permanent, so when a Planeswalker spell you control resolves, it enters the battlefield under your control. Note that Planeswalkers are not creatures. Fore more info, you can check out Wizards of the Coast's article on How to use a Planeswalker right here: http://magic.wizards.com/en/game-info/planeswalker-cards Follow us on Twitter: @WeAreGamersYT Join the convo on Facebook: /WeAreGamersYT Want to Support the channel? Magic Origins Standard Deck Tech: Jeskai planeswalker aggro (w/ Chandra, Gideon, and Jace)!

13:22
A super special treat for the wizard community today - a Jeskai aggro/superfriends deck featuring 3 of the new planes walkers from Magic Origins (and one of the new spells)! Dev's been testing this out against the some of the heavy hitters in the format (mono red aggro and abzan midrange, to be exact), and he's here to tell you whether or not these walkers have legs (lol). Here's the list: Creatures (15) 4 Monastery Swiftspear 3 Kythreon 1 Seeker of the Way 2 Jace, Vrynn's Prodigy 3 Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh 2 Dragonlord Ojutai Spells (22) 3 Wild Slash 3 Gods Willing 4 Lightning Strike 4 Dragon Fodder 1 Anticipate 3 Jeskai Charm 2 Stoke the Flames 1 Narset Transcendent 1 Ravaging Blaze Lands (23) 4 Mystic Monastery 1 Temple of Enlightenment 1 Temple of Triumph 1 Temple of Epiphany 4 Battlefield Forge 2 Shivan Reef 2 Bloodstained MIre 1 Flooded Strand 4 Mountain 2 Plains 1 Island Sideboard (15) 1 Negate 1 End Hostilities 1 Outpost Siege 1 Valorous Stance 1 Roast 1 Dragonlord's Prerogative 2 Stormbreath Dragon 3 Silumgar's Scorn 1 Elspeth, Sun's Champion 2 Act of Treason 1 Temple of Enlightenment The deck can do a lot of damage, especially midgame after Chandra flips, and Jace flipping can lead to a lot of damage thanks to his great -3 ability. Some crazy stuff starts to happen when they interact with each other, like Tap Chandra for a point of damage. Wild Slash you. Untap Chandra. Tap Chandra for 1 damage again, Lightning Strike, Untap Chandra, Tap her again, flip, +1 her, then recast the Lightning strike out of the graveyard. In case you weren't doing the math, that's 13 damage for 5 mana, and things like that happen fairly consistently, like double Stoke the flames on the same turn with Jace's -3, or flipping Chandra and Gideon off of Dragon Fodder on respective turns (and then we can use the Fodder tokens as chump blockers when they attack our planeswalkers), or casting Ravaging Blaze on consecutive turns (and Ravaging Blaze, it turns out, is awesome. You can play it as an instant when control taps out for their Dig Through Time or use it to kill Ojutai and deal 4 to them when they swing in with their Dragonlord). The deck may do a lot once it gets set up, but it does have problems with vulnerability. These new planeswalkers are paper tigers, and although we do have some protection for them in the form of Gods Willing (which is great in this, as it can both save them from spot removal and make sure Gideon survives combat or Chandra gets her combat damage through for a turn), it just isn't enough sometimes, and if we trip, we may be in trouble, as the deck has some trouble gaining initiative, although it does pressure opponents during our combat step very well. All in all the deck feels fun, but not as tight as it ought to be. Originally Dig Through Time was going to be a 3-of, but eventualy got completely taken out because I didn't really care for its interaction with Jace (you'd think Jace would fuel Dig well, but just the opposite; if I cast cards out of my graveyard with Jace, it's hard to Dig, and if we Dig, we can't cast stuff out of our graveyard with Jace). Other possible inclusions were Raise the Alarm, Monastery Mentor, Goblin Rabblemaster, Mantis Rider, a few other things. Let us know what you think of this one down in the comments and don't forget to check out the deck tech playlist a little lower in this description, and as always, thanks for watching, my wizards.
