Highlights from Red Sea diving in April 2013. The Hammer Head shark encounter was definitely the highlight. The great visibility was, however, what I remembe. 3HRS Stunning Underwater Footage + Relaxing Music | French Polynesia, Indonesia 4K Upscale

03:00:14
NO MUSIC VERSION @ https://youtu.be/wJIbhSYteK0 | Watch via On-Demand: https://naturerelaxation.vhx.tv/new-releases-from-david-huting/videos/rainbow-reef-relaxation-3-hours-hd-nature-relaxation-w-music | DOWNLOAD/DVD: https://www.naturerelaxation.com/products/rainbow-reef-relaxation-3-hr-dynamic-underwater-film-w-music-hd | ABOUT THIS FILM: From the cinematographer: "The footage for this film was shot over a period of some years in French Polynesia, Micronesia, Indonesia and East Timor. Unfortunately there are not that vibrant anymore today. Coral reefs have suffered from the rise of water temperature, rise in acidity, destructive fishing methods and severe storms caused by climate change." - Peter Schneider. "Rainbow Reef Relaxation" is a 3-hour long, sweeping yet majestic & vibrant underwater journey to the world's most beautiful lagoons, as captured by Nature Relaxation collaborator Peter Schneider (Underwatercam) paired with ambient underwater sounds and brand new ambient music by the Cynic Project. Filmed in High Definition several years ago, thanks to its age this film offers magical glimpses of an underwater world that is bursting with life, color, and beauty. Unfortunately, reefs today in most of the world are suffering from severe bleaching and so with this film we hope to raise awareness by showcasing the divine beauty that only pristine underwater reefs can present, in hopes that it will motivate the viewer to take action and help save them before its too late! (https://news.nationalgeographic.com/2018/01/coral-bleaching-reefs-climate-change-el-nino-environment/) More from Peter S: "We all know that nowadays! This gives us the privilege and also duty to change and rethink our role in nature. What we also know today is that everything is connected and we are all a part of Nature, yes we are nature. So we don’t have to save the world, but recognize it as family. What we do to the world, the world will give it back to us. Equally the good and the bad things, that is law. The good news in it is, ...it is all up to you and me and everyone. You matter, I matter because we are all belonging to the same family. Now take a deep breath and join us for a dive beneath the waves." Australia's Great Barrier Reef | beautiful underwater nature | Scuba Diving the Ribbon Reefs HD

04:43
The Ribbon Reefs are a string of ten large reefs that together form the outer edge of Australia's Great Barrier Reef. One feature of the Ribbons is that they serve to shelter the inner reef from big storm damage. The Ribbon Reefs are home to some of the GBR's most popular dive sites. "Steve's Bommie", "Lighthouse Bommie" and "Cod Hole" are among the best known. But there are also other more recently discovered sites that were real standouts on our recent expedition (June 2011). "Acropolis" is one of the sites that is new to me. It boasts the most perfect fields of Acropora coral I have ever seen. Table corals that are 12' / 3.6m in diameter are common here. Uninterrupted fields of staghorn corals extend beyond the 100' / 30m visibility in all directions. Coral cover is close to 100% on this reef. Such coral density is getting rare enough these days... but considering this whole region recently slept through Cyclone Yasi, then the still-pristine state of "Acropolis" is testament to the resilience of coral reefs, the protection the "barrier" offers the inner reef, and the general patchiness of storm damage. Liz and I dived and worked on the Ribbon Reefs a decade ago—in fact, it's where we first met. During our expedition last month, we were thrilled to see the sites were in even better condition now than when we last saw them. Familiar coral heads and bommies seem to have more fish than ever. The corals are in better condition, and of course bigger than they were 10 years ago. The many anemones I used to film each week have found new tenants, but are still right where I last saw them: True clownfish have replaced the Pink anemonefish on top of "Steve's Bommie", while Barrier Reef anemonefish have replaced Spinecheeks a little further down the site. It was like returning to an old neighbourhood... some faces may have changed, but the same houses stand strong. This video shows a random mix of footage from the Ribbon Reefs dive sites. I hope it doesn't take another 10 years before I re-visit them again. —Josh Jensen ~ Music: "Air on the G string" recording owned by Partners In Rhyme and licensed to Undersea Productions for commercial use. Footage: Filmed and owned by Josh Jensen, Undersea Productions.

Diving in Bali (720p)

54:42
Scuba diving in Bali. This DVD is available at http://www.bubblevision.com/marine-life-DVD.htm Diving in Bali is a document of an extraordinary expedition I made to Indonesia's magical island of Bali in 2006 with Aquamarine Diving, http://www.aquamarinediving.com From Tulamben's awesome USAT Liberty wreck, to the reef manta rays of Nusa Penida, via the fascinating macro marine life of Tulamben and Seraya Secrets, the footage covers the breadth of Bali's fascinating underwater world. The video features 158 species of marine life, and their common and scientific names are available by turning on the captions with the CC button under the video. Viewers can now contribute subtitles for the marine life names in this video in many languages. Find out more at https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/6054623. From Tulamben there is footage of the wreck of the USAT Liberty in both day time and night time, including the humphead parrotfish that spend the night there. Also from Tulamben are numerous marine live encounters from dives at the Drop-Off and the Coral Garden. Just around the corner we make a dive at Seraya Secrets, a macro hotspot where I encountered seahorses and nudibranchs. From Padangbai on the east coast of Bali we have footage from The Blue Lagoon and Pura Jepun. From the island of Nusa Penida we have the manta ray cleaning station, Manta Point, and Ped. Full list of dive sites featured in this video: 1. USAT Liberty Shipwreck, Tulamben The USAT Liberty was torpedoed by the Japanese off Lombok and beached at Tulamben in Bali. In 1963 the last eruption of Mount Agung caused the wreck to slide deeper into the sea where she lies today. The USAT Liberty shipwreck makes an excellent dive site. This video features the towering stern, the coral-encrusted gun on the bow, green humphead parrotfish (Bolbometopon muricatum), a Pacific hawksbill turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata bissa), garden eels, sweetlips and lots of other interesting marine life from the wreck and its surroundings. The USAT Liberty also makes a fantastic night dive. Green humphead parrotfish sleep in the protection of the wreck. Other highlights include a Spanish dancer and a bluespotted ribbontail ray. 2. Coral Garden, Tulamben The Coral Garden at Tulamben lies conveniently right off the middle of the beach. Skunk cleaner shrimps tend to moray eels and groupers at a cleaning station based around a barrel sponge. Also featuring a ribbon eel, ghost pipefish, leaf scorpionfish and trevallies schooling in the shallows. 3. Tulamben Drop-Off Video from the Drop-Off at Tulamben, Bali, featuring a spectacular giant purple knotted sea fan, nudibranchs, a ghost pipefish and a seahorse. Before and after exploring the Drop-Off we spend time in the shallows where we meet Tulamben's famous schools of trevallies. By night the drop-off at Tulamben provides plenty of treats for the visiting diver. This video includes a squat lobster, a cone shell, a dwarf cuttlefish, a hermit crab and various pretty reef fish. 4. Seraya Secrets Seraya Secrets, nearby to Tulamben, is an exellent muck dive known for weird and wonderful critters. Here we encounter some batfish around the artificial reef project in the shallows. A little deeper we find 2 thorny seahorses, catfish, an anemone crab and nudibranchs. 5. Blue Lagoon, Padangbai The Padangbai area on the east coast of Bali provides some fantastic diving. Just north of Padangbai lies the Blue Lagoon. This footage comes from my first ever dive in Indonesia with a video camera and features leaf scorpionfish, cuttelfish, anemonefish, lionfish, shrimps, catfish, nudibranchs, moorish idols and a goby. 6. Pura Jepun, Padangbai Pura Jepun also lies just north of Padangbai and is home to some fantastic marine life. This video features clownish, sweetlips, angelfish, a peacock mantis shrimp, a stingray, a panther grouper, a wart slug, ribbon eels, a scorpionfish and a flying gurnard. 7. Manta Point, Nusa Penida On the north-east side of Nusa Penida lies a cleaning station for reef manta rays (Manta alfredi) known as "Manta Point". On 23rd May 2006 we had the pleasure of diving with these graceful giants. 8. PED, Nusa Penida Ped is sloping reef on the north coast of Nusa Penida. Here we encounter a variety of tropical reef fishes including angelfish, triggerfish, anemonefish and scorpionfish, as well as a rhizostome jellyfish. Thanks to Toao (http://www.soilsound.com) for the music tracks, "Deep Blue", "Starbeam", "Afterglow", "Time & Space" and "Woodsman", and to Erik Verkoyen for "Prickly Shark". 19 INCREDIBLY Colorful Sea Creatures

09:30
From Nemo, the clownfish, to the beautiful and elusive Blue Sea Slug, these are 19 INCREDIBLY Colorful Sea Creatures ! 8. Blue Tang -- Undersea creatures seem to look really cool in blue … and this one is no exception. The Blue Tang shows off some amazing blue coloration complemented by bold black markings. It almost sounds like a fashion shows, right? These fish are usually found in Indo-Pacific waters and are actually bright yellow when they’re younger. The blue and black colors show up at their final phase of development. 7. Coral -- Is that a brain at the bottom of the ocean? No … but it is a brain coral … and just an example of the wide ranging variety of living coral and coral reefs, some of which are thought to have started growing over 50 million years ago. Contrary to some beliefs, coral are animals, not plants … they’re actually related to anemones and jellyfish. The reefs formed by coral provide housing for thousands of marine species, giving them a place to find food, reproduce, and keep them safe until they’re mature enough to venture into the deeper ocean. Did you know coral reef plants and animals have proven important to the development of new medicines to treat cancer, Alzheimer's and heart disease? But even with all those advantages, human activity is threatening almost 60 percent of the world’s coral reefs. 6. Flower Hat Jellyfish -- This rare species of jellyfish is a rare species usually found in the waters of southern japan, Argentina and Brazil. It can grow to a half-foot in diameter, and is easily recognizable by its translucent bell, which is pinstriped with opaque bands. Those coiling tentacles adhere to the rim while not in use. Like many pretty looking things, this jelly carries a sting … but even though it’s painful, it’s non-lethal to humans … the worst you’d get is a rash. 5. Blue Sea Slug -- We couldn’t find a lot of information on this critter. From what we’ve seen, it’s often identified as a Blue Sea Slug … but that sounds like a pedestrian name for such a colorful creature. You can see the brilliant blue coloration in this photo … the animal almost looks like an alien life form with the two antennae sticking up. We’re guessing it might be a Nudibranch (new-di-brank). Those mollusks are noted for their striking colors, and there are more than 2,300 validated species scattered about the world. Can you confirm that? Let us know in the comments! 4. Mantis Shrimp -- They’re one of the most colorful forms of marine life, but don’t be fooled. They’re also known as ferocious undersea predators that possess, pound for pound, one of the most powerful punches on the planet. Punching with speed equal to a .22 caliber bullet, the Mantis Shrimp has not only broken shells of its prey … it’s also broken through aquarium glass. Punching at that velocity makes water vaporize and explode with a sharp bang, a flash of light and extremely high heat, all of which is felt by the victim as an additional blast. Not bad for an animal that averages less than four inches long. 3. Juvenile Emperor Angelfish -- Their coloration will change with age … but while they’re young, they exhibit these amazing displays of swirling dark blue, white and electric blue. It almost look hypnotic, right? Well, the fish keeps these distinct patterns until it reaches maturity, which usually takes around 4 years. Then the fish develops blue and yellow stripes, and black shading around its eyes. 2. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amphiprioninae Clownfish -- Did you recognize them from “Finding Nemo”? Known as one of the most brightly colored fish in the world, their bodies have distinctive white striping with colors that can vary from red, orange or yellow. They’re also known as anemone fishes, because of their mutually beneficial relationship with sea anemones. The toxic tentacles of the anemones protect clownfish from predators. And the fast movement of the fishes helps anemones find food and increase circulation. 1. The Mandarinfish -- Also known as the “Mandarin Dragonet” it swims in the Pacific reefs … but it’s less than 3 inches long so it can be difficult to see in the wild. As you might guess, this fish is highly sought after in the aquarium trade … but they’re considered extremely difficult to their strict eating habits. Some people think the Mandarinfish might be the most beautiful fish in the world … would you agree? to Epic Wildlife http://goo.gl/6rzs5u Let's Connect -- http://www.epicadamwildlife.com/ -- http://www.facebook.com/epicadamwildlife -- http://www.twitter.com/epicwildlife -- http://gplus.to/epicwildlife

Wonders Of The Great Barrier Reef And Coral Sea Underwater Video

04:07
http://www.flykam.com.au Here is a selection of footage I shot around Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef ending out on 1000 meter walls in the Coral Sea. I gathered the footage from a few trips on Taka Dive. I use a Canon 60D with a Tokina 11-16mm lens for the up top shots and in the Helicopter and plane. For underwater I used a Sony 3CCD HDV FX1 in the Phenom underwater housing made by Amphibico. Lights where the Sola 4000's Leds from http://www.scubapix.com and the Amphibico Discovery G3 HID. Clips were dumped as is into EDIUS and edited together. Footage is also in my Reef to Rainforest Relaxation DVD http://www.reeftorainforest.com.au/

Under The Sea,beautiful life under the sea, many diverse and excellent fish and marine plants. This video material by Artbeats and the music by Denis RICHARD - Logyst. Coral - Is that a mind at the base of the sea? No … yet it is a cerebrum coral … and only a case of the colossal assortment of living coral and coral reefs, some of which are thought to have begun becoming once again 50 million years prior. In opposition to a few convictions, coral are creatures, not plants … they're really identified with anemones and jellyfish. The reefs framed by coral give lodging to a huge number of marine species, giving them a place to discover sustenance, repeat, and guard them until they're develop enough to wander into the more profound sea. Did you know coral reef plants and creatures have demonstrated vital to the advancement of new drugs to treat growth, Alzheimer's and coronary illness? Be that as it may, even with each one of those points of interest, human action is undermining very nearly 60 percent of the world's coral reefs. CLICK - SUBSCRIBE, SHARE, LIKE. Bizarre Underwater Discoveries

06:17
From amazing art to a mysterious train, these are 13 of the most bizarre underwater discoveries. Subscribe to Talltanic http://goo.gl/wgfvrr 10. The Cancun Underwater Museum has over 500 underwater sculptures dedicated to the Art of Conservation. The unique attraction offers divers a spectacular view of the statues that can be seen from a glass bottom boat. The museum began its venture in Cancun in 2009 and was completed in 2013. Each figure was made from a PH neutral cement, coral, seaweed and algae. The reason for this is to help benefit and protect coral reefs. Coral reefs can be created from sunken ships that fall to the bottom of the ocean floor. Creating statues are used to help save the ocean by creating a new way to grow coral reefs. 9. MS Zenobia was a Swedish ferry boat that sank on her maiden voyage in 1980 near Larnaca, Cyprus. After passing through the Strait of Gibraltar in route to Athens Greece the captain began to notice problems associated with steering. Once they arrived at Larnaca, the problem occurred again and the computerized pumping system was forcing additional water into the adjacent ballast tanks because of a software error. A few days after the ferry sank and sank in Larnaca Bay. Now it is a favorite dive site for visitors in Cyprus. 8. From land, the swimming whole Angelita looks like an average swimming hole. It is located in the Yucatan in Mexico. Divers have to plunge down to nearly 100 feet underwater to see the river. The “Underwater River,” is a cenote that is just an optical illusion produced by a cloud of hydrogen sulfide intermingling with the surrounding saltwater. 7. USS Oriskany is nicknamed the “Mighty O”. Was one of the small amount of Essex-class aircraft carriers finished only after World War II for the United States Navy. The ship was called for the Battle of Oriskany through the Revolutionary War. The aircraft carrier saw years of combat through both the Korean and Viet Nam Wars before the carrier was purposely sunk to become part of the world's largest artificial coral reef. 6. Several miles off New Jersey’s coast there lie an unanticipated site below the ocean’s surface. Two trains were found in 1985 but no one knows for sure how they got there. The most excepted theory behind how the locomotives got there is that in the 1850's the trains were being transported from the place they were built to their new home which was likely a rail yard. Because the locomotives were small, they could have been pushed overboard into the sea. Now the trains give an interesting spot for divers. 5. Yonaguni Monument is located off the coast of the Ryukyu Islands, in Japan. The monument is connected to a large rock mass in the ocean and believe to have been deposited over 20 million years ago. The main monument is a rectangular formation which measures 490 by 130 ft. The rock formation is made out of moderate to very fine sandstones and mudstones. Scientist who have studied the formation have concluded that some of the features could be manmade. One scientist believes that the site could be fragments of the legendary lost continent of Mu. 4. The SS President Coolidge was an ocean liner from the U.S. The large ship saw its nautical days finish after yielding to mines near the large military base on Espiritu Santo. Now the ship is used as a dive site. Divers can see a mostly intact cruise liner and a military ship. They can swim through numerous parts of the ship. There are guns, cannons, Jeeps, a stunning statue of "The Lady", chandeliers, and a mosaic tile fountain. Coral grows around the ocean liner where the divers can view sea creatures such as reef fish, barracuda, sea turtles and moray eels. 3. The Titanic, was the world’s largest cruise ship sank on her maiden voyage on April in 1912. The ship was touted as “unsinkable” and was supposed to be one of the safest ships ever built in history. She collided with an iceberg, and nearly half of the passengers lost their lives due to the inadequate supply of life boats on board. 2. The Lion City is a real life Atlantis located in China. The city was purposely flooded to make way for a build hydroelectric power station in 1959. Unfortunately, the city was forgotten but remains largely intact for being underwater for fifty years. Currently, there are plans in the works for divers because they like to use the metropolis to use as a tourist site. 1. SS Thistlegorm merchant ship that was sunk during World War II in the Red Sea. She set to sell for Alexandria, Egypt when two bombs were dropped on her from above. The bombs struck the stern of the ship, and it quickly sank. The ship and holds everything from vehicles, motorcycles, ammunition and other weaponry. Now the SS Thistlegorm is used as a recreational diving site.

Can Underwater Parks Protect Coral?

03:05
From the Science Friday Archives! With global threats like ocean warming and acidification, it's a tough time to be a coral. Marine scientists John Bruno and Elizabeth Selig, of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, analyzed over 8000 coral surveys from all over the world to see if local management through Marine Protected Areas had any positive effect on coral.
