Come on, Simon. Half Mexican? Seriously dude? “Mexican heritage” isn’t a thing, that’s why it doesn’t show up on those test results.

That switched at birth bungle is unacceptable. That is a very terrible thing that is so easily preventable. The parents simply need to keep an eye on their baby!

I usually love your videos, but the use of the word "real" here to refer to biological parents and children here is extremely offensive and disrespectful. Saying that an adopted person's biological parents are their "real parents" totally disregards all of the years of love, care, affection AKA PARENTING that the adoptive parents have put in. The correct term is "BIOLOGICAL PARENTS." Now every situation is different, but as an adopted person myself I personally find it outrageous when people consider the man and woman who happened to have sex one day and then walked away once I was birthed to be my "real" parents. Their contribution to "parenting" was minimal at best.

The popularity comes from Americans' obsession with race. How rootless do you have to feel to cherish some odd 14% of German heritage like some kind of heirloom?
Benmore Peak (2 days ago)
This is stupid: Almost every white person listed on IMDb has Native American ancestry. In fact, it seems like the whiter the star, the more Cherokee, Sioux, Navaho, or whatever they are. And if it's on the IMDb it must be true.

Hey, you could have the luck of the golden state killer and get found out by a 3rd cousin. That's right, cold case detectives are turning to DNA websites to track down their suspects.

I lost my virginity at age 15 to a girl I knew from High School but, didn't really hang around together. One day she just showed up at my house, stayed the whole day and into the night, where we then had sex. A few weeks later she showed up telling me she was pregnant. Being 15, I said, "What do you want me to do?" She left town, traveled to California. Nine years later I ended up in California & the friend I was visiting told me we were going to go meet up with someone from High School. When we arrived, it was this girl. While we visited, nothing was mentioned about a child but, there was a photo of a young 9-year-old girl displayed. We were looking through our HS yearbook when we came to the page with my picture, my photo was circled in red pen but, the boy next to me with a similar last name was also circled. Nothing was mentioned & I didn't have the courage to ask so, I have lived my whole life wondering if I actually have a daughter or if this girl got pregnant by the other boy & had sex with me to see if she could dupe me into taking responsibility for the child. That was in 1973 & I still wonder about this often. I am 60 and never did have children of my own. I wish I could get an answer before I die.
Richard Tyll (2 days ago)
I appreciate your sentiments but, I have searched discretely and found nothing. I wouldn't want to publish her mother's name in public. If her mother or the child/woman in question truly wanted to find me, it wouldn't be hard as I have a very large online presence. I suppose I could try tracking down the other boy, circled in red ink and see if he was ever contacted then or since.

Racist are ignorant fools but I don't understand acting as though they are worse than murderers. Criminals are treated as though, "oh he just went off track" but a racist deserves to be without a job, friends, or family. I don't condone racism but I've known some and most are just ignorant and wouldn't actually treat people differently much less believe in slavery and the like.

That last one is so sad, yet the sweetest.
I was adopted and at 47 I had my dna rested. The non identifying information my adopted parents were told I was Italian and Native American... nope... English, Wales, Norway... and I’ve always known I have Rh- blood. Within hours I have been linked to a 1st cousin who inadvertently shared the connection with another 1st cousin... she was unaware that the cousin she has sent me to for gemologist information was my half brother on the maternal side. Within 34 hours I had been in contact with y half brother,he has a full blooded older sister and he is almost to the day a year older then me. My adoptive parents were told that my biological mother was married but that her husband was in bietnam when I was conceived and she was given a choice. Her marriagemor me... they split up when my half brother was 7. I’ve still not found a close connection on my paternal line and more then likely he doesn’t know I exist. Sadly, I knew way back that I had missed the opertunity to meet my biological mother... but... I HAD met her... and my half brother. My first husband was raised in a small town in Mississippi... we would go up from New Orleans for holidays etc... there’s a restaurant at the head of the road his folks lived on... my biological mother was a waitress there from 1988 (when I met my first husband) until her passing in 1994. He son, my half brother was the reserve police officer and the ststion’s dispatcher and my ex’s cousin was one of the 2 full-time officers... My ex-in-laws were very active in the community and one of the full time officers is my ex’s 1st cousin... so while at a fund raiser I was introduced to my half brother... we had commented on how we could be related... how ironic is THAT! But, I had been born in New Orleans... what were the odds??? I learned that although my adoption was “private” it’s possible that my birth mother knew who had adopted me. Further mind blowing information... throughout my childhood up until 1990 I had lived less then 20 miles from her at any given time! Thx for reading!

People can share Haplogroups which have existed for 50,000 years. As they travelled to different parts of the world their looks changed and they intermarried with people from different parts of the world. The "Brown eyes" and "Blond hair" etc depends on your mothers and fathers and whatever ancestors you have had. Cynthia McLaglen

In the 1960s, the man who was second-in-command in the American Nazi Party was revealed to actually be Jewish. A reporter tracked this down, and before he published the story, he called the man to discuss it with him. The Nazi begged him not to publish the story, then immediately killed himself.
hebneh (8 days ago)
I wouldn't say that finding your birth mother, when you knew you'd been adopted, was "shocking".
hebneh (8 days ago)
When I was about 55 I found out for the first time that I had an aunt who was my father's half-sister. I don't know if he ever knew she existed; if he did, he never told his kids. A few months later I found out my great-uncle supposedly also had fathered a child; I worked with one of her descendants and knew another one. All this happened without any genetic testing.
Rainy Jane (8 days ago)
Yeah "woman finds out her father was actually some guy whom she never met and had no idea he was her father. Then she met him and it was the happiest day of her life." Does no one stop to think about what actually happened here? Ie, many years ago this guy had unprotected sex, got some woman pregnant and then fled, leaving her to be pregnant and then have to care for and support the baby (then child, then young adult, then adult) on her own/receive help and support from a completely different guy. Why is the biological father such a long-lost hero here?? Because he banged a woman one night and then took off?

There is an agenda out there for everyone to be mixed, but that is not the truth. If, we were mixed , nothing would change in society. We would just be sub-sets of ethnic groups with the same issues.
bravobr (1 day ago)
Genetically/DNA wise, we are all mixed ! What makes each of us who we are is the specific dominant genes that form each and every one of us.

Something similar to number 10 was the experience a guy I knew made. He was working as a hobby with the origin of names and came across a family who's names translate from German (where this story takes plaxe) to "Sun", and he became interested why they had that last name. He started to dig into it and found out that centuries ago, a noblemen brought black slaves with him. When he freed them, they faced the problem that these three former slaves had no last name, so he dicided to give them the names "Sun", "Moon" and "Star". The family wasn't to pleased with that finding, they were kinda more, let's call it hard conservatives, and where not that glad to learn about their black slave ancestry.
M.J. Leger (13 days ago)
Sometimes it is just best NOT to know your ancestry -- we ALL originate the same way before thousands of years of branching off to what we are today! And sometimes there are mistakes in DNA testing that could produce results that can ruin a person's life. Humans err, and humans do the DNA testing so it's not always going to be with accurate, perfect results. We all probably have crooks way down far in our lineage somewhere! Sometimes it's just best not to know, since you cannot change anything! (Who really cares about a cousin 9 times removed!)

My maternal grandfather isn’t who we thought he was. I found my mother’s half sister through dna testing. She has two sisters and a half brother. His children look so much like my mother that I have no doubts. My mother, her bio mother and father, and the man we called grandpa are no longer with us. So we will never know the full story or who knew what.

How can we swallow this theories about that being Jewish is being part of a race or "Irish Catholic" is a race??? Crazy
J.B Newcomer (15 days ago)
I know most of my ancestry without one of these tests, both of my families keep pretty accurate records; my mother's side is Polish, Czech-Slovak, German, tiny bit of Greek and a little Jewish (my great great grandmother was half and she was a first generation American- my mother's father's side- my great great grandmother taught my grandma Slavic-my mother's mother's side-). Although I wouldn't be surprised if there was some French, Russian, and /or Southeast European crown in there, because history. My Father's side is mostly English, Irish (My last name "Newcomer" was mostly an English name until most of the families of Newcomer's left for Ireland and then most came across to America during the "Potato Famine later on after about 200-300 years of mingling), Scottish, German and a little bit of Nordic and some more Jewish (which funnily enough no one practices Judaism in any parts of my family but we have met distant relative who do in Germany) sure I'll never know exact percentages or if I'm 0.1% of something uncharted by my family but I know what my family celebrate and cherishes ( My grandmother -mostly German- has us put our shoes out on December 6th for St. Nicolas Day and my grandma -the one who was taught Slavic and is also polish- makes cookies and such like Rum balls/Rumove koule and Vanocka )
