I love Aretha, she’s one of the all time greats!!! but her father was no man to be recognized. He was a pedophile! Which is why the mother left.
Talonnie Hunt (6 months ago)
Why is Aretha shouded in such sick secrecy ? I've not read one word about whose she's survived by. Four sons There has to be grandchildren Sons are barely mentioned. I get a deep down feeling. Aretha was a lot like her Father Lived for image But behind closed doors lived a shady life. Daughter like Father I'm sure. But hopefully nowhere near as grimmy But I really don't think she was a very nice Human Being. How could she be. With a father like CL to emulate after He helped form her
David Whiteis (5 months ago)
She certainly had her "diva" side, and she could be difficult to get along with. I've known some well-known singers who met her early in their careers, and they said she was far from friendly or supportive. But what of it? She also had a warm, loving heart, as many who knew her well will attest. She was a human being, with frailties and faults like all of us have. But she had a God-given gift that blessed all who ever heard her or saw her perform. Can we praise people for the good they do, and for the light they carry and bestow? I believe we must . . . As for CL, the rumors and stories about him have not been pretty at all, but we'll never know the truth. Whatever he did (or did not do) is a matter between him and his Maker. I think maybe it's a good idea to leave it at that.

I'm hurting and crying, my Mother ALWAYS, ALWAYS had Aretha Franklin's music playing in our home, and when my Mom was in the hospital dying from Hodgkin's disease ( cancer of the lymph nodes) Aretha Franklin's Gospel Music is what she listened to until she took her last breath. So now Aretha is in HEAVEN with my Mom Rebecca having a Wonderful time.

About the time of Aretha’s transition from her Earthly home to her Heavenly home, I was praying for a smooth landing for her soul. I will always remember the song, “ Never Grow Old” a song she sang at her Father’s church at an early age of her life. Your melodious voice and your legacy will live on for ever. I know you have joined the Heavenly Choir and one of the top soloist. You will truly be missed. Rest In Peace. Gertrude Cope

She was touched by the love the city of Detroit showed in dedicating a city park to the name of her father. Now there will be a park dedicated to her honor as well as well as a number of other city landmarks I'm sure. She was an integral part of the city of Detroit. Her entire family was. She was so real and affectionate. And a fathers daughter. She loved her father so much.

I am mourning and feeling hurt about Aretha Franklin passing although I did not know her personally. I suppose I am hurt because I am going to miss her representation of Soulful music or her legacy or perhaps the idea of Good music to enjoy. Aretha music can bring back the cherished memories I have of my mother or make my soul peaceful and tranquil when the chaos of the world seems too much. Aretha I will miss you and I thank you for sharing your music, your legacy, your soul! Rest Easy Queen
