After sending shockwaves across contemporary culture and setting a new standard for provocative, socially-conscious horror films with his directorial debut, Get Out, Academy Award®-winning visionary Jordan Peele returns with another original nightmare that he has written, directed and produced.
Set in present day along the iconic Northern California coastline, Us, from Monkeypaw Productions, stars Oscar® winner Lupita Nyong’o as Adelaide Wilson, a woman returning to her beachside childhood home with her husband, Gabe (Black Panther’s Winston Duke), and their two children (Shahadi Wright Joseph, Evan Alex) for an idyllic summer getaway.
Haunted by an unexplainable and unresolved trauma from her past and compounded by a string of eerie coincidences, Adelaide feels her paranoia elevate to high-alert as she grows increasingly certain that something bad is going to befall her family.
After spending a tense beach day with their friends, the Tylers (Emmy winner Elisabeth Moss, Tim Heidecker, Cali Sheldon, Noelle Sheldon), Adelaide and her family return to their vacation home. When darkness falls, the Wilsons discover the silhouette of four figures holding hands as they stand in the driveway. Us pits an endearing American family against a terrifying and uncanny opponent: doppelgängers of themselves.
Writer and director Peele produces for his Monkeypaw Productions alongside Sean McKittrick, Jason Blum, and Monkeypaw’s Ian Cooper. Us will be released by Universal Pictures on Friday, March 22, 2019.
I am black and I've had it with black people in Horror movies these days. We aren't meant to be main characters, we are meant to be smaller characters who ends up dying first. Pfft. No more hope for movies. Running out of ideas?
towards the end, we realised that Adelaide was replaced by her shadow as a child, how did this non soul version of hers that came out of the tunnel give birth to normal kids? Apparently she didn’t have a soul, right?
I think red said the soul was split or something. She added up saying that its still human. I dont think it really matyers if a soul is needed to give birth.
Possibly when Adelaide killed Red, she probably got the soul entered in her and memories flooded in, which could explain her screaming, also because she was free from this nightmare.
I’ve seen this movie, and if any of you are wondering if the movie was good,
It was. It was very good. The ending made me want to rewatch the entire movie again if I could. The movie wasn’t so scary, but the concept certainly was if you put the situation in real life.
If you get the chance to watch it, I really recommend you do. It was *such* a good movie. Actors were great and the ending I totally wasn’t expecting.
I can’t wait for more Jordan Peele works in the future.
I just saw the movie and it was super scary. Like I love horror movies and watch them every week. But this was OMG. I recommend not to watch this if you are a person that gets scared easily or a person that doesn't like spirits and stuff like that.
In the movie the little boy and the mom switched bc when he backed up in the fire she said nooooo if the mom said no that means that she didn't won't him to die and then did u no that the mom started smiling and the end and the boy didn't say anyything bc they are evil and how i no bc when the girl went in the mirror the evil girl took her and tied her up on the bed
A very joyful and full of humor horror movie. If you want to reduce your fear, then it's a must watch movie. This movie helps me to take final decision to never ever go Cinema to waste my time and money.
I think that producers and directors need to make more films featuring black and white people in them as they did in the 80s and 90s where blacks and whites were playing roles where they acted as a team together. That is what I am used to watching. Watching a black horror movie is fine, but, they should pair up blacks and whites together to get things rolling on an upswing of diversity again because this generation needs to know how hard it was to bring the two races together in movies as equal heroes or equal villains.
What do you mean? I'm not trying to be racist, but there are now many more variety of different people in American movies now. Well, I wasn't born in the 1900s but I've seen many movies from that time and they've changed a lot since then.
